Word for Word Presents Sam Shepard's 36 STORIES, Now thru 6/22

Word for Word presents '36 Stories by Sam Shepard' arranged for the stage and directed by Amy Kossow opening with a press night on Saturday May 24 8pm, running through June 22 (previews May 21-23) at Z Space's second venue, Z Below, at 470 Florida Street. Last year the Magic Theatre spearheaded a multi-theater celebration of Shepard's 70th birthday when they opened their season with Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Buried Child.' Other companies participating in the celebration have been Crowded Fire, American Conservatory Theater in collaboration with Intersection for the Arts/Campo Santo and Word for Word.

Ennio Morricone Cancels 2014 U.S. Tour Due to Health Issues

Complications from a back injury have forced Italian composer Ennio Morricone to cancel his highly anticipated U.S. tour, which was to consist of performances June 13 at Cushman & Wakefield Theater in Barclays Center in Brooklyn and June 15 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The concerts, in which Morricone would conduct an ensemble of 200 musicians and singers in performances of his legendary film scores, would have been the Maestro's first New York appearance since 2007 and his first-ever Los Angeles concert.

The New York Philharmonic and American Composers Orchestra (ACO), in collaboration with ACO's EarShot: the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, announce the selection of 13 emerging composers from an international pool of more than 400 applicants from seven countries and 37 states ranging in age from 9 to 84, whose original scores for orchestra have been chosen for readings and performances by the Philharmonic and ACO as part of the inaugural NY PHIL BIENNIAL.

The Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who turned 85 in November, has suffered a back injury that has forced the postponement of concerts originally dated March 20 in Los Angeles and March 23 in Brooklyn. The shows have been rescheduled for June 13 at Cushman & Wakefield Theater at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and June 15 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, where he will conduct an ensemble of 200 musicians and singers in performances of his legendary film scores.
