Academy Award-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson has joined the fall line-up for The New York Times's TimesTalks event series. Jackson will sit down with New York Times media columnist David Carr at TheTimesCenter (242 West 41st Street) on Monday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss his award-winning and illustrious film career, as well as his return to the stage this October opposite Angela Bassett in the Broadway premiere of Katori Hall's Olivier Award-winning play, The Mountaintop, in which he will play Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Producers Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman announced today that Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Angela Bassett will return to the Broadway stage in the role of Camae starring opposite Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Katori Hall's The Mountaintop will hit Broadway this fall, however, with only one of it's previously announced stars. Samuel L. Jackson will open the play as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his Broadway debut, however the team is in search of a new Camae, as Halle Berry has departed the piece due to child custody issues.'

Jean Doumanian Productions (August: Osage County, Our Town, Superior Donuts, When The Rain Stops Falling), in partnership with Sonia Friedman Productions (The Norman Conquests, The Seagull, Boeing-Boeing, La Cage aux Folles and Rock 'n' Roll) is moving forward to mount a Broadway production of the new play, The Mountaintop, by Katori Hall, following the recent announcement of the 2010 Olivier Award Best New Play nomination in London (actress Lorraine Burroughs also received a nomination for Best Actress for her performance). The Mountaintop will open on Broadway this Fall as part of the upcoming 2010-11 Season. The producers are in negotiations with Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun) to direct this American premiere.

Producers Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman announced today that they hope to bring their Martin Luther King Jr. play, THE MOUNTAINTOP, to Broadway in fall of 2010 according to The New York Times. The play surrounds King's last nights before his assassination. The play premiered in London in summer 2009 and was written by Katori Hall.
