In the first two minutes of SCREAM QUEENS, it's obvious this is a somehow campier, meaner version of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN with a brighter color palette. That SCREAM QUEENS will be compared to the AHS series is inevitable, sharing showrunners and genre. However, SCREAM QUEENS has a much stronger beginning than any of the seasons of AHS at all.

I have looked forward to seeing MISS FANCY for almost a year. As I said in my interview with playwright and director Daniel Martin, I feel a strong connection to this story. All of us in Birmingham should feel a connection to MISS FANCY. She is the mascot for several businesses in the area. She is a part of our history and our folklore.

And that, gentle readers, is just the first problem with ACT 1's season-opening production of Ira Levin's Deathtrap, a sturdy, if perhaps shopworn, theatrical thriller now onstage through October 17 at Darkhorse Theater. Directed and produced by Susan Cole, Deathtrap features a notable cast of experienced local actors who seem to be trapped in a plodding, uninteresting production of a play that's well past its projected shelf life. There's a lack of polish (whether among the actors' performances or on the surface of set pieces) and a pervasive sense of not knowing the time, place and environs in which Deathtrap takes place that is disconcerting and off-putting.

We open with Cam, Mitch & Lily taking a new photo for above their mantle (“She's not in the one up there now and we started to get the slight impression it was bothering her,” quips Cam before cutting to one of the less humorous gags). Not the most active of a storyline, but I'm glad they're addressing they might need to change the picture; after five seasons, it's nice that the writers acknowledge the same need for change for the characters that the viewing audience is more or less expecting at this point anyway. But no, the focus of the storyline does not seem to be on the actual taking of the photo, but rather on the unique, to put it nicely, smile Lily gives while she's taking it. Again, it seems like the Chucky-esque smile might be a bit of a bland storyline, but at least it gives Lily something to do. :-) Gosh, can that kid turn out some great one-liners!

Mascot Books announces the release of 'Eighteen to Thirty-Six,' written by Bruce Petillo. Remember what it was like to be eighteen with your whole life waiting in front of you? You were destined to be somebody; a rock star, a major league baseball player, a writer, a surgeon, or the next Steve Jobs. Then you woke up one morning between eighteen and thirty-six, to find yourself in a 'career' that you really had no desire to be in but it put food on the table, paid the mortgage and with the few bucks left over each month, your kids could take karate lessons or play on a traveling soccer team. Is this the life you imagined for yourself at eighteen? 'Eighteen to Thirty-Six' is the story of five friends who came of age together and were reawakened by the untimely death, at just thirty-six years old, of Nate Moore, the anchor of their friendship. Now these four lives are haunted by looming shadows from the past, including loves lost, paths not taken, old wounds, and passing time. With all of their flaws and weaknesses, Nate's death has given each of them a moment in time to pause and take measure of their lives, contemplate their own mortality, discover forgiveness, rekindle faith, and find redemption before the sands of time bury what's left of their lives. 'We all have life experiences from our teenage years, positive and negative, that affect the people we become,' said Petillo. 'I believe 'Eighteen to Thirty-Six' captures the endless possibilities of eighteen and the cold realities of thirty-six, providing us with an opportunity to take back the lives we have lost to become the people we are meant to be.' About the Author Bruce Petillo is a husband, father, former minor league baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies, founder of the Fans Across America Charitable Foundation, entrepreneur, marketing executive, and writer. He has been fortunate to experience life in ways that many people only dream. Across this extraordinary journey, he has learned that how you envision life to unfold is rarely how it happens. He has experienced many of life's peaks and valleys along the way, and each event has played a critical role in sculpting the person he is today, and who he will become tomorrow. Bruce grew up in Yorba Linda, California, and now resides in Gilbert, Arizona with his wife and children. 'Eighteen to Thirty-Six' is available through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Apple iTunes. About Mascot Books Mascot Books, located in suburban Washington, D.C., was co-founded in 2003 by Naren Aryal with the release of 'Hello, Hokie Bird!,' a children's book starring the mascot of his alma mater, Virginia Tech. DENVER, March 2, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Frontier Airlines is launching a contest that will give one lucky organization the chance to have its favorite mascot displayed on one of the airline's famously animal-clad planes. Beginning today, anyone can submit their mascot for consideration. Fans can then vote for their favorite mascot and share with friends and family. In addition to having its mascot on the tail of a new plane, the winning organization will receive 20 roundtrip tickets valued up to $5,000. All voters will be entered to win one of nine weekly giveaways consisting of one round-trip ticket valued up to $250. 'We know Americans take great pride in their teams and mascots,' said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president – commercial. 'Likewise, at Frontier we take pride in the animals on our aircraft tails. We have 19 new aircraft joining our fleet in 2016, and we want to share the fun of choosing the animal on one of our tails with the communities we serve with Low Fares Done Right.' Fans can get involved by voting and submitting their mascot at flyfronter.com/mascotcontest. Voting begins today and ends on April 30, 2016. The winning mascot will be selected in May, and the new Airbus A320 family aircraft will make its debut in the fourth quarter of 2016. One hundred five new aircraft will join Frontier's fleet through 2022. Some of the newest members of the fleet include Otto the Owl, Max the Lynx and Courtney the Cougar. For b-roll and photos visit: bit.ly/1XQlLii Terms and Conditions: Grand Prize: With written consent of the school, club or legal entity whose mascot receives the most votes during the Contest Period, a depiction of the school, club or legal entity mascot will be used on a Frontier Airlines A320 family aircraft scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of 2016. The tail animal will be used for the life of the A320 family aircraft in the Frontier Airlines fleet. In addition, the winning school, club or legal entity will receive 20 roundtrip tickets valued up to $5,000. Frontier Airlines will announce the winner of the contest after the winning school, club or legal entity has been contacted by a Frontier Airlines representative and upon acceptance of the prize. Odds of having the winning mascot is based on the number of eligible votes entered for that mascot during the Contest Period. The tail animal depicted must be a North American animal that is not a human being, and the tail animal will be a photograph, chosen by Frontier Airlines, of that animal. Frontier Airlines will not use a cartoon or fictional representation of the mascot on the airplane. Frontier Airlines will use a real life depiction of the mascot. Whenever possible, and where permitted by the school, club or legal entity, Frontier Airlines will also name the tail animal for the school mascot. For example, if the winner is the University of Maryland Terrapins, Frontier would place a photo of a terrapin on the airplane tail and name it Testudo. If the winning school, club or legal entity mascot does not have a name, Frontier Airlines will name the animal. For example, if the winner is Rocky Mountain High School's mascot, a Gray Wolf, Frontier would place a photo of a Gray Wolf on the airplane tail, but would have full naming rights. If the winning mascot is not a North American animal, Frontier Airlines will designate the type of animal to be placed on the tail, and where permitted by the school, club or legal entity, will name the animal after the winning school mascot: For example, if Ellie the Elephant is the mascot, Frontier would select a North American animal and name the tail animal Ellie. If the winning mascot is not an animal, Frontier Airlines will select the type of animal to be placed on the tail, and where permitted by the school, club or legal entity, will name the animal after the winning school mascot: For example, if the Richfield Rockets is the mascot, Frontier will select a North American animal and name it Rocket. In all cases, the represented mascot depiction is found on the tail of the airplane, and the name of the mascot appears at the nose of the airplane. Frontier Airlines has full rights to make the final decision on animal depictions and name on its airplane in the event it determines a name is unsuitable or inappropriate. Vote at flyfronter.com/mascotcontest. To view the entire list of terms and conditions, visit www.flyfrontier.com/mascotcontest. Full disclosure, cast members were possibly reviewing choreography from our dance call before walking into our very first Footloose rehearsal. Our fabulous co-choreographer, Jeff Dimitriou, set the bar high prior to day one and we wanted to be ready. More importantly, there was so much recall from that audition day because it was an exuberant experience! And, the moves were accessible because they were married to impulse. The choreography Jeff gifts to us is full, extended and comes from the heart. Dancing it out on stage is totally visceral, but only when we honour the steps as intended. It is so interesting how the energy of a scene shifts drastically by simply 'being bigger'. There is no grand explanation, but the energy percolates when we give in to the story told through movement. Over lunch, Jeff and I took a corner of our rehearsal space and talked life, art and Footloose. If you did not know before, Jeff's artistry stems far beyond choreography - he is a painter as well. We began by talking about this side of his work.
