As reported over the weekend, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Edward Albee, passed away at the age of 88. The revered playwright died in his sleep at his home in Montauk, Long Island. The Dramatists Guild has just released a thoughtful, heartfelt a statement on Albee; read it in full below!

In a wry, spirited quest to 'not go gently' into a retirement home, Alexandra barricades herself in her brownstone with enough homemade Molotov cocktails to blow the entire block sky-high as she negotiates the terms of her future with a long-estranged son who has battles of his own. Berkeley Playhouse will produce the first non-musical in its nine-year history with Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
