Broadway's landmark musical event THE LION KING is pleased to welcome JUDAH BELLAMY as 'Young Simba' and SHAYLIN BECTON as 'Young Nala' to the company. Bellamy and Becton made their Broadway debuts last night.

Disney's landmark musical event, THE LION KING, set a new box office record at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre by grossing $1,993,370 - the show's highest grossing week to date - during the sold-out eight-performance New Year's holiday week of December 27, 2010 - January 2, 2011. The previous Minskoff record was held by THE LION KING, with a gross of $1,870,145 (set Thanksgiving holiday week ending 11/28/2010).

THE LION KING Auditions start in Madrid

Today the auditions for the first ever Spanish production of The Lion King, one of the most anticipated musicals of all time, have started in Madrid, where it will open in Teatro Lope de Vega, no official date yet. Stage Entertainment expects over 2.000 artists to audition from registering on their website just one week after it opened, and for today more than 700 people, singers and dancers, have gathered in Teatros del Canal del Madrid.

It was another version of 'Circle of Life' on-stage at Broadway's THE LION KING Friday night, September 3, when The Bachelorette's Ali Fedotowsky and fiancé Roberto Martinez were joined by both of their families to take in the show. Following the performance, they joined cast member Dashaun Young (Simba) back-stage where he presented them with a gift from the cast. Ali and Roberto were all smiles when they received the custom-made Playbill in which they got star billing.

Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old former star of Disney's Lion King, got 50 Cent's attention when she was diagnosed with leukemia. A distant cousin of the rapper, 50 Cent did everything he could to help the former Broadway star and has since made it his mission to help leukemia patients nationwide find a bone marrow match.

At just eleven-years-old Shannon Tavarez (a native of Queens) already had a promising Broadway career performing four shows a week as Young Nala in DISNEY'S The Lion King. Shannon juggled a full day of school before rushing to the Minskoff Theatre - - she was living her dream. Now, just two months later, Shannon's dream is simply to grow up and return to her normal life. In April, Shannon was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. The talented young star was performing on stage when the symptoms first hit. Her lower back and legs suddenly started hurting making it difficult for her to perform or even walk. 'When I found out, it hit me really hard, like someone was throwing a ball at me. It was shocking and I thought, why me?' said Shannon.

Alicia Keys & Rihanna Support Cancer-Stricken Broadway Star

People Magazine is reporting that singers Alicia Keys and Rihanna are teaming up to lend a hand to Broadway's Shannon Tavarez. The young starlet was starring in The Lion King when she was diagnosed with leukemia.
