In one of the biggest coups in Colorado Theater history, Vintage Theatre grabbed the rights to one of the most sought after Broadway shows - AVENUE Q!

The Castillo Theatre (Dan Friedman, artistic director, Diane Stiles, managing director) is presenting three winning scripts from the 2011 Mario Fratti-Fred Newman Political Playwriting Contest, selected from over 150 entries including from U.S., Italy , New Zealand, Africa and the UK. The plays are being directed by distinguished theatre professionals. They will be presented on Monday, August 1, 8, 22 at 7:00 p.m.

According to the Beacon Herald, Tony nominee Brian Bedford, who was previously slated to star in THE MISANTHROPE at Stratford Shakespeare Festival, will no longer participate due to medical reasons. Peter Hutt will now play Oronte in the show.

West Coast Ensemble and director Richard Israel get ready to for a much-anticipated GYPSY that will run May 13 - July 3 at the Theatre of Arts Arena Stage in Hollywood.

Stephen Poliakoff will direct the world premiere of My City, his first new play for 12 years, running at the Almeida Theatre from 8 September - 5 November, with press night on 15 September 2011.

Now, the paper reports that 'Tim Rice, the lyricist of Jesus Christ Superstar, attended the Wednesday night performance of his show at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival less than two weeks after his composer colleague, Andrew Lloyd Webber undertook the same journey. This only served to underscore the constant rumbling since the show's June 3 opening that it was headed for Broadway - fast. If both of the show's creators give this production their blessing, then the chances of it going to Broadway have just grown exponentially.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its Outdoor Stage - the Theatre's enormously popular annual summer tradition of family theatre "under-the-stars" - with the world's most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. Performances begin on June 22th and continue through July 31st.

Celebrating their company's 61st season - which makes them the oldest community theater in Middle Tennessee - Nashville's Circle Players recognized outstanding achievement during the 2010-2011 season with the presentation of the Circle Awards on Sunday, June 19.

Eric Rosen, Artistic Director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre, has cast thirteen veteran Kansas City actors in the Rep's production of Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, which Rosen will direct. The show runs September 16-October 9 at the Rep's Spencer Theatre.

Commenting on the show on his official web site, Andrew said: "I have just seen a fabulous production of Jesus Christ Superstar. It is very probably the best acted performance of the show I have ever seen and fully worthy of the fantastic reviews it has received. Today, the Toronto Star is reporting that composer Andrew Lloyd Webber came to town on Saturday to see the production which has been generating potential Broadway buzz. If true, the production would come to town along with another bible based revival - the already confirmed GODSPELL.
