Trumpet/Flugelhorn virtuoso Alex 'Sasha' Sipiagin makes his Blue Note debut as a leader on June 21 to release his latest CD, Generations (Criss Cross, May '10), a tribute to the late trumpeter Woody Shaw.

Guitarist and vocalist extraordinaire Raul Midón plays the Blue Note in a benefit for JazzReach on June 14. Midón drew national attention with a jaw-dropping performance of his song 'State of Mind' on the David Letterman show in 2005.

Sharron Matthews is getting ready to take over the world CABARET STYLE! Well-known in Canada as one of the country's greatest Cabaret artists, Sharron has been wowing Toronto audiences with her unique Cabaret evenings and amazing vocal styling for years, and now she is taking her show on the road for her World Domination tour! Producer David Shor, who is developing Sleepless in Seattle:The Musical for Broadway, announced today that Michelle Citrin, Michael Garin, and Josh Nelson will collaborate on the music and lyrics for the show. The musical is aiming for a Broadway bow on Valentine's Day, 2011.

Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced the creative team for its world premiere of American Idiot. Based on the Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, the show features the music of Green Day and the lyrics of its frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. American Idiot is being staged by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer, who also collaborated with Armstrong on the story. It features the work of Olivier Award-winning choreographer Steven Hoggett and music supervisor Tom Kitt, the Tony-winning composer who provided string arrangements for the band's latest album, 21st Century Breakdown.
