The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a 40th anniversary screening of 'Young Frankenstein' with special guests Mel Brooks, Cloris Leachman, Teri Garr and executive producer Michael Gruskoff on Tuesday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Film historian Leonard Maltin will introduce the comedy classic and host a live onstage discussion with Brooks, Leachman, Garr and Gruskoff.

Cross, hook, jab and uppercut-know anything about boxing? Sturgeon Bay's Third Avenue Playhouse imports Sossy Merchanics in a Stage Door Theatre Company performance billed Tricky Boxing August. While no audience member needs to know anything about boxing to throughly enjoy the high energy production, the team of Brian Sostek and Megan McClellan pairs in the nostalgic 1940's fictional tale of boxer Dancing Danny David and how he acquired the 'knockout of his life.'

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

Steve Ross and Karen Oberlin's recent duo effort at 54 Below, Cheek to Cheek, was a show oozing charm, class, charisma, and chemistry, but most of all they conveyed their love for these legendary performers and the classic tunes associated with them.

“Fantasia”—Disney's crown jewel that changed the course of animation forever when it was released in 1940—is brought to fresh, new life when Pacific Symphony presents the captivating blend of music and moving pictures, live and under the stars, as part of “Mercedes-Benz presents Summer Festival 2014.” A perfect evening for reliving childhood memories or introducing new ones to youngsters, “Disney 'Fantasia': Live in Concert” features stunning footage from the original version as well as “Fantasia 2000” shown on the big screen above the stage, as the orchestra performs classical masterpieces in sync with the animation. Starring the iconic Mickey Mouse in “The Sorcerer's Apprentice,” the presentation also delights with colorful and vibrant animations of dancing hippos, baby unicorns, flamingos and Disney's other favorite characters—Donald and Daisy Duck in the 2000 version of “Pomp and Circumstance.” Led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the Symphony also performs selections from Beethoven's Fifth and Sixth symphonies, “The Nutcracker Suite,” “Carnival of the Animals,” “Firebird,” “Pines of Rome,” “Claire de Lune” and “Dance of the Hours.”

Then it's on to classic Americana for “Gershwin Greats,” featuring guest pianist Jeffrey Biegel, soprano Angela Brown and bass Kevin Deas. Next, it's the the magnificent repertoire of Disney “Fantasia”: Live in Concert from the original 1940 version and “Fantasia 2000,” performed live as Disney's stunning footage is shown on the big screen. The fourth concert delivers the silky smooth sounds of saxophone superstar Kenny G, before the Symphony concludes the season with an OC tradition: “Tchaikovsky Spectacular,” which this year features guest pianist Jon Nakamatsu, and, of course, breathtaking cannons and fireworks during the “1812 Overture.”

The art of the dance movie poster is celebrated at Jacob's Pillow this summer with GOTTA DANCE!, an extraordinary exhibit of vintage posters from throughout the world. The posters, which feature stars such as Gene Kelly, Rita Hayworth, Cyd Charisse, Eleanor Powell, and Astaire & Rogers, were selected from the personal collection of one of the genre's foremost experts, award-winning campaign designer and producer Mike Kaplan. GOTTA DANCE! includes a special six-poster salute to Marge and Gower Champion on the occasion of Marge Champion's 95th birthday.

California Shakespeare Theater begins its 2014 season with one of the true trailblazing works in the American theater, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Patricia McGregor. A Raisin in the Sun plays at the Bruns Amphitheater from tonight, May 21 through June 15.

Hilda Morales was born in N.Y. City, and grew up in Puerto Rico. Her early training was with Ana Garcia of the Ballet San Juan. At 14 years of age, Ms. Morales received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to study at George Balanchine's School of American Ballet. She danced as a principal dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet, soloist with American Ballet Theatre, artist-in-residence with the Colorado Ballet and guest appearances with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Albuquerque Ballet and Jacksonville Ballet. During her dancing career, Ms. Morales performed in full-length classic ballets as well as works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Agnes de Mille, Antony Tudor, John Butler, Alvin Ailey, and Jose Limon. Ms. Morales was featured in the movie The Turning Point, in the role of Sandra, directed by Herbert Ross. She guest teaches and is on the faculty of the Central Pennsylvania summer programs, and joined The Hartt School faculty in 1998.
