The Old Globe will celebrate its 80th Anniversary as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration with a 2015 Summer Season featuring Shakespeare onstage and in film. 2014 Tony Award winner for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and former Old Globe Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak returns to direct the spectacular musical classic Kiss Me, Kate, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, book by Sam and Bella Spewack, and choreography by Peggy Hickey, in association with Hartford Stage.

The Jewish Museum and Bang on a Can are launching a new partnership to produce a series of dynamic musical performances at the Museum from June 2014 to May 2015. Inspired by the Jewish Museum's diverse slate of exhibitions, the five programs will take place throughout the year across the Museum at Fifth Avenue and 92nd Street, Manhattan. The partnership kicks off with Asphalt Orchestra performing during the Museum Mile Festival on June 10, followed by a July 10 concert featuring works by Minimalist composers such as Philip Glass and Louis Andriessen in conjunction with Other Primary Structures, an exhibition of global sculpture from the 1960s.

The RSC is releasing a selection of music and speeches from Gregory Doran's productions of Henry IV parts I and II on a new CD and for download from iTunes. Delighted to see the mandate of Kent Nagano continue until 2020, the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal was filled with renewed enthusiasm today when it presented, at Maison symphonique de Montreal, a 2014-2015 season that is dazzling and richly diversified - a season that promises deep emotions! The 2014-2015 season offers a number of sensational programs built around major works of the repertoire, some of them large in scale and some of them discoveries. Classicism and modernity rub shoulders throughout the season. In the foyer Allegro at Maison symphonique, Kent Nagano, music director of the OSM, unveiled the details of the 2014-2015 programming, accompanied by Stephane Levesque, principal bassoon with the Orchestra, and Mylene Paquette, the navigator who did a solo crossing of the Atlantic last fall. The event was hosted by Jean-Francois Lepine, international analyst and music lover, in the presence of OSM chief executive officer Madeleine Careau. The announcement marks the launch of the subscription renewal campaign, which ends on April 25, and the new-subscription and single-ticket-sale campaign, which begins on April 28.

In The Line King's Library: Al Hirschfeld at The New York Public Library, The Library for the Performing Arts presents the largest exhibition of Al Hirschfeld's artwork and archival material from its collection. UCLA Film & Television Archive salutes the extraordinary career of actor, singer and dancer George Chakiris in this exciting screening and discussion. Trained in Los Angeles, Chakiris first distinguished himself as a dancer in Hollywood films, displaying an athleticism and grace that helped bring renown to West Coast dance styles. Best known for his Academy Award-winning performance in West Side Story (1961), Chakiris has enjoyed a multi-faceted, international career on stage, screen and television. This program assembles a selection of his sparkling television appearances drawn from the Archive's holdings, including excerpts from "The Garry Moore Show" (1961), "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show" (1962) and "The Andy Williams Show" (1967), followed by a screening of Jacques Demy's The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967), foregrounding Chakiris' command of song, dance…and our attention. Chakiris won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the role of Bernardo in the film and in Nov 2012, Chakiris received what many refer to as the highest honor in Hollywood - His Hand & Foot Prints were placed in cement (with colleagues Rita Moreno and Russ Tamblyn and placed along side friend and co-star, Natalie Wood) for all history in connection with the 50th anniversary of classic film West Side Story which premiered at Grauman's 50 years ago.
