Ballet Hispanico honored Latin music superstars Emilio & Gloria Estefan with the Nuestra Inspiracion Award; legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera with the Toda Una Vida Award; and businessman and community activist Marcos Torres with the Civic Inspiration Award; at its annual CARNAVAL Gala on Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom, 768 Fifth Avenue, NYC. Proceeds, which totaled over $1.1 million last year, benefit the creation of new choreographic works, much needed scholarships for young people, and immersive dance programs for communities around the world.

The spotlight will shine bright at the Laguna Playhouse' annual gala, May 12, with special performances by 'Phantom of the Opera Star' Davis Gaines, a tribute to the Moulton Theatre's 50th anniversary, and a host of highlights celebrated throughout the much-anticipated, elegant affair.

Coming off their successful debut seasons on “The Voice,” current season 14 coach, three-time Grammy Award winner and “2018 Billboard Music Awards” host Kelly Clarkson and season 13 coach and Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson will reclaim their red chairs on season 15 of “The Voice.” Clarkson and Hudson will compete against Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and country music superstar Blake Shelton.

Backstage at the Geffen, the Geffen Playhouse's annual fundraiser event, has launched its online auction featuring luxury vacations, one-of-a-kind artwork and VIP experiences. Proceeds will benefit the Geffen's mission to produce original, quality work and raises funds for its award-winning education and community engagement programs, which bring live theater to more than 15,000 disadvantaged youth, seniors and veterans annually.

Cleveland Play House (CPH) is all about glitz, glam and groove at its Annual Benefit, The Disco Ball, on June 2, 2018 in the Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square. On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Rivera talked about her life and illustrious career with Broadway World's lead correspondent, Richard Ridge, host of Backstage with Richard Ridge.

The Stuttering Association for the Young will host its 16th Annual Chefs' Gala, on Monday, May 21, 2018, to celebrate the courage and achievements of more than 70 million people who stutter - including 5% of all children. The event will recognize individuals who inspire young people who stutter, this year's honorees are 2017 World Series MVP George Springer, (Hero Award), Marcia & Bill Withers will be inducted into the SAY Hall of Fame and Linda D'Alessandro & Jay Badame (President & COO AECOM Tishman) (Budd Mayer Advocacy Award). The evening will be hosted by Tony Award winner and former SAY honoree Kelli O' Hara, with a special presentation by Joe Moglia (Chair of TD Ameritrade Board). The Gala Performance will be directed by SAY Founder & President, Taro Alexander with musical direction by Everett Bradley.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center honored multi-discipline creative artist Lin-Manuel Miranda with the 18th Monte Cristo Award, last night at a private dinner at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. An alumnus of the O'Neill, Miranda's first professional production was at the O'Neill's National Music Theater Conference with In The Heights in 2005. The gala dinner featured a conversation with the honoree and raised $575,000 to support the Center's commitment to developing new work and new artists for the stage.

Details were announced today for Opera Ball 2018: ¡Viva La Noche!, San Francisco Opera Guild's signature gala benefit inaugurating San Francisco Opera's 96th season on Friday, September 7. Presented in conjunction with the season-opening double bill of one-act operas, Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (or Cav/Pag), Opera Ball 2018 is co-chaired by Shannon Cronan and Kathy Huber and features event design by J. Riccardo Benavides and a sumptuous dinner by McCalls Catering & Events. Last presented by San Francisco Opera 15 years ago, Cav/Pag returns next season in a staging by Argentine tenor, conductor and director Jose Cura that sets both Italian classics in La Boca, the Buenos Aires neighborhood known for its colorful architecture and live tango performances. Berkshire Playwrights Lab (BPL) will celebrate the kickoff of the summer season with a benefit Gala on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the historic Wyantenuck Country Club, located at 46 West Sheffield Road in Great Barrington. This summer, audiences can enjoy FREE entertainment at Piedmont Park! Horizon Theatre's comedic adaptation of Freaky Friday will return to the stage at Piedmont Park for a limited engagement from June 20-23, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Families and kids of all ages are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy the delightfully spunky musical based off of the popular Disney movies. The renowned and recently revamped Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present More Sweetly Play the Dance, a video installation by the internationally-renowned South African artist William Kentridge. More Sweetly Play the Dance encircles viewers in a procession of moving images and sound, a looped spectacle-sometimes stately, sometimes raucous-that captivatingly engages themes of life, death and current events. The installation will be on view from May 19, 2018 through January 20, 2019.

Minnesota Orchestra Board Chair Marilyn Carlson Nelson today announced the appointment of Michelle Miller Burns as the Orchestra's new President and CEO, effective September 1. Currently the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Executive Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Burns has previously served as Interim President and CEO of the Dallas Symphony and held senior fundraising roles with the Newberry Library and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She succeeds President and CEO Kevin Smith, who will retire on August 31. Ms. Burns' initial contract is for five years.
