The 17th Vermont Symphony Orchestra Radio Auction, hosted by the Radio Vermont Group, will be held tonight, April 30 at 6:00 pm. This exciting, interactive, on-air event includes one-of-a-kind experiences such as conducting the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and co-hosting a radio program on 101 the One. There will also be incredible getaways, including a week on the gulf coast of Florida, a behind-the-scenes look at the Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and accommodations for a stay in Iceland. BURLINGTON, VT – Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO), Vermont's only statewide symphony orchestra, announced this week during a choral concert in Burlington, Vermont that Robert De Cormier has been honored as Conductor Emeritus, Vermont Symphony Orchestra Chorus. De Cormier held the position of choral conductor for twenty years having retired in 2014.

Pacific Chorale, the internationally acclaimed resident choir of Segerstrom Center for the Arts, will be presenting a powerful finale concert on May 17 at 5:30 p.m., featuring works by Verdi, Howells and Poulenc. Orange County, Calif.—March 6, 2015—The world's most brilliant playwright—William Shakespeare—is reimagined in unexpected ways when Pacific Symphony partners with Chapman University to present “Shakespeare Reimagined,” a festival that explores how The Bard's plays have inspired not only other playwrights and directors, but also composers, choreographers and filmmakers. The festival, which runs through April 19, began last month with “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” at Chapman University, and continues on March 13 with a semi-staged version of Mendelssohn's “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” performed by The Chapman Orchestra, Women's Choir and Department of Theatre students. The festival culminates April 16-19 with four Pacific Symphony concerts featuring Prokofiev's “Romeo and Juliet.” The ballet is presented with actors and dancers who help reinstate the composer's original happy ending, which was banned by Joseph Stalin. In the second installment of the Columbus Symphony's American Roots Festival, guest bass-baritone Kevin Deas returns to perform some of George Gershwin's greatest music including extensive selections from his glorious opera Porgy and Bess, including “Summertime,” “It Ain't Necessarily So,” “Bess,” and “You Is My Woman Now.” Gershwin's brilliant and bluesy Piano Concerto and an orchestral suite by jazz legend Duke Ellington paying tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. completes the bill. Led by guest conductor John DeMain, the program will also feature guest pianist Xiayin Wang, soprano Jonita Lattimore, and the Columbus Symphony Chorus.
