The 45th season of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center begins with a thrilling display of music for strings tonight, October 17, at 7:30 PM in Alice Tully Hall. This marks the 9th season with Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han, whose enormous success producing and presenting chamber music in New York City, nationally and internationally, has resulted in record-breaking audiences, and a new 7-year contract for them to continue their artistic leadership.

For the first time in over fifty years, Harbinger Records will release 'Ballads for the Age of Science,' the most successful educational recordings of all time, as a six-CD box set. Featuring more than four dozen original songs written by Hy Zaret, co-author of the iconic popular song 'Unchained Melody,' and Lou Singer between 1959 and 1961, the albums introduced scientific concepts and terms using catchy, easy-to-learn lyrics and music to grade school students across America in the early 1960s.

The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, after a successful summer, continues its exciting 33rd season into the fall with 'The Late Christopher Bean,' a comedy, with a cast of nine, under the direction of ELTC's artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth.

Based on the 1939 MGM movie musical, this production includes all your favorite songs and characters from the film, including 'Over The Rainbow' and 'We're Off To See The Wizard' and features a cast of 36 professional and local actors of all ages, presented with full sets, costumes brilliantly designed by Diana Mann, and spectacular lighting effects out on the baseball field.

In MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN, Olympia Dukakis delivers a searing performance in its title role. Dukakis is more than just a masterful actor, she delivers a Mother Courage who is strong, sassy and simply astonishing in her complexity. The entire ensemble of sixteen actors raises the reputation of Shakespeare & Company - already renowned for its lush, intelligible renditions of the Bard's greatest works - to new heights.
