Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season. The season will feature the World Premiere musicals Some Lovers by music legend Burt Bacharach and Tony Award winner Steven Sater and Nobody Loves You by Gaby Alter and Itamar Moses, as well as the West Coast Premiere of John Kander and Fred Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys, recently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical, directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The two plays receiving World Premiere productions are Somewhere by Globe Playwright-in-Residence Matthew Lopez and The Recommendation by Jonathan Caren. The new season also includes revivals of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show and the Eugene O'Neill classic Anna Christie directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner David Auburn. Special events include the World Premiere of Odyssey by Todd Almond, a music theater event conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet celebrating the Globe's 75th Anniversary, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program production of Twelfth Night and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which returns for its 14th consecutive year.

John Mellencamp and his band are set to embark on the first leg of the No Better Than This Tour in late October following the August 17 release of his Rounder Records debut album, No Better Than This. The tour, designed as a uniquely formatted 'evening with,' brings Mellencamp's music to theater-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America's most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.

Nashville Ballet single tickets for the 25th Anniversary Season will be available Tuesday, September 7, 2010. The Ballet will offer some of the most requested productions for a full year of ballet favorites. All evening performances have been moved to 7:30 p.m., with the exception of Nashville's Nutcracker, which will be performed at 7:00 p.m. A special family performance, Peter and the Wolf, created specifically for a younger ballet audience, will be presented Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Artistic Director/CEO Paul Vasterling states, 'As we mark this milestone year, I have selected a collection of audience favorites, with something for everyone. In the last decade, the company as a whole has evolved in their strength, the pureness of line, and a distinct look that has captured national attention. I invite the community to come celebrate the success of Middle Tennessee's only professional company.'

Performed in repertory, Simon's semi-autobiographical plays follow the life of Eugene Morris Jerome from the foibles of youth in late-1930s Brooklyn to a career as a comedy writer for radio.

What happens when a composer goes to an art show and takes home a souvenir not in the form of a photo or postcard ... but as music? Before the days of audio tours and museum gift shops, there was Modest Musorgsky, strolling through a friend's exhibit in St. Petersburg, taking musical snapshots, and immortalizing one art form with another with his Pictures from an Exhibition.
