Racial prejudice and school desegregation are the themes of Matrix Theatre Company's upcoming play by Mark St. Germain opening Friday, February 20. Based on the book by Osha Gray Davidson, BEST OF ENEMIES tells the true story of the efforts of an Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan and an African-American civil rights activist as Durham, North Carolina underwent public school desegration in 1971. The show continues through Sunday, March 15. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 pm, with Sunday performances at 3 pm.

Each year, Long Beach Playhouse closes its Mainstage Season with a musical. This year it's presenting the popular classic, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein. When it opened on Broadway 50 years ago in 1964, the musical was nominated for ten Tony Awards and won nine. In 1971, it was made into a movie, produced and directed by Norman Jewison, starring Chaim Topol who was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Tevye the Milkman.

This new, funny, poignant comedic drama follows the journey of the Fool and his King as they ply a path along side Shakespeare's great tragedy, exploring hilarious and harrowing byways between its scenes. Grant Neale directs and plays The Fool and Craig Smith plays The King in a play which South Carolina critics called a delight and a must-see comic drama.

The American Theatre Critic's Association announces the election of veteran Chicago theater critic Jonathan Abarbanel as Chair of the American Theatre Critics Association, at the conclusion of the Association's 40th annual conference on July 20, 2013, held this year in Shepherdstown, WV. He will serve a one-year term as Chair of the Association's nine-member executive committee and may be re-elected for up to two more years.

Kritzerland has just announced a second edition for the critically acclaimed newly remixed cast album for FOLLIES- The 1971 Original Broadway Cast Recording. For only the second time in Kritzerland history, Kritzerland is doing a second edition of one of our limited edition CDs (the first was for Promises, Promises). The reaction to this newly mixed version of Follies has been overwhelming, and the original first edition of 1500 copies was gone by the time word had spread and reviews had appeared. Stephen Sondheim called the new mix "a miracle" and that's been pretty much the reaction from everyone, including original co-director and producer Harold Prince, cast members John McMartin (the original Ben) and Harvey Evans (the original Young Buddy), Ted Chapin (the author of Everything Was Possible, the book about the creation of Follies), and logo creator David Edward Byrd. At the request of Mr. Sondheim, we are issuing this one-time only second edition so that it will be available for those who either hadn't heard about it or were too slow ordering.

The groundbreaking and internationally acclaimed dance company Pilobolus today unveiled a behind-the-scenes video of its new work, Aziumth. The piece will have its New York premiere tonight as part of Pilobolus's 2012 Joyce Theater engagement, which began performances on Monday, July 16, and runs through August 11.
