Shows are opening (Carolyn German unveils her latest, Go From Here, and Nashville Ballet revives Carmina Burana, both this weekend), shows are closing (your last chance to catch The Taffetas at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre before they go the way of The Plaids is this weekend) and The Miss Firecracker Contest is back onstage at Donelson's Larry Keeton Theatre for the second of three weekends. Obviously, the 2016 theater season continues to reveal itself at a breakneck pace, giving audiences a veritable buffet of offerings from which to choose.

·         In 2016 the Royal Court Theatre celebrates its 60th birthday by looking towards the future. The new season includes six world premieres, five UK and worldwide collaborations, one European premiere, a major collaboration with LIFT, a partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas, the return of Open Court and ongoing work in Tottenham and Pimlico.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents TCHAIKOVSKY & LISZT This Weekend, January 30-31, 2015 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Led by guest conductor James Feddeck, the performances feature Sibelius's “Valse Triste” fromKuolema, Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto with Principal Clarinet Todd Levy, Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Overture, and Liszt's Les Préludes.

New York City Ballet will open its 2015 Winter season on Tuesday, January 20, with a week of ballets by the Company's co-founding choreographers George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, and current Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins. Included are two all-Balanchine programs -- one consisting of Serenade, Agon, and Symphony in C; and one consisting of Donizetti Variations, La Valse, and Chaconne. A third program of all-Russian music will include Symphonic Dances by Martins, The Cage and Andantino by Robbins, and Cortege-Hongrois by Balanchine.

London called and Brisbane answered loud and clear. The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) performance in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Concert Hall last Saturday 22 November, was completely sold out.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

Exeter Northcott Theatre has put its hardworking staff centre stage as it launches its autumn 2014 Season. To celebrate receiving Arts Council funding, the new brochure pays tribute to the fantastic team at the theatre as they make a trip back to the 1940s through the costume store.

April 26, 2014 marks the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth.
