Pacific Northwest Ballet opens its Box Office for 2013-2014 ticket sales on Monday, July 22. As is its tradition, PNB is offering aspecial money-saving deal to celebrate the company's 41st season: Pay no service fees on tickets purchased thru July 31. When Thornton Wilder premiered his new play OUR TOWN in 1938, I would wager that more than one person left the theatre asking why anyone would want to watch the lives of "ordinary" people on stage. Fast forward to present day where millions of people the world over tune in to reality tv shows, following the lives of "ordinary" people. The difference is, that there is nothing "brilliant" about the lives of the so-called stars of reality TV. However, Wilder's OUR TOWN is light years ahead of it's time, and the talented cast of his well-known play bring out it's brilliance at the Theater At Monmouth.

The world of comics was abuzz at Comic-Con International: San Diego as the Holy Grail of comic books - an original copy of ACTION COMICS #1, featuring the first appearance of the world's most iconic Super Hero, Superman - made a rare appearance last night as the guest of honor, along with Man of Steel star Henry Cavill and director Zack Snyder, at a party celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Superman. Widely considered to be the genesis of the superhero genre, ACTION COMICS #1 - an original on loan from the personal collection of musician Jack White (The White Stripes, The Racounteurs, The Dead Weather) arrived under heavy security to the star-studded Comic-Con event sponsored by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Eighty-Eight Entertainment announces that the Chicago Premiere of THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE, starring internationally-acclaimed storyteller and pianist, Mona Golabek, is extending through July 7 due to popular demand at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted Street . The production is adapted and directed by Hershey Felder and based on the book The Children of Willesden Lane by Golabek and Lee Cohen. The Chicago premiere has received rave reviews and follows successful productions in Los Angeles and Boston.
