Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake have joined Matthew Broderick in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of 'The Philanthropist.' Weber will play a friend of the leading character portrayed by Broderick in Christopher Hampton's 1970 take on 'The Misanthrope,' while Cake will play a writer. Anna Madeley is the female lead, reprising a role she played in the 2005 staging of the play at the Donmar Warehouse. Tate Ellington, Jennifer Mudge and Samantha Soule complete the rest of the casting. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present Tony? 'Aristides - the Outcast Hero' tells the little know story of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese consul in Bordeaux in 1940, who disobeyed his fascist government and issued some 30,000 visas to refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. By cleverly exploiting treaties between Portugal and Spain, Aristides de Sousa Mendes forced open an escape route out of occupied France, through Spain and into neutral Portugal. This was to be used by some 1 million people during WWII.

The production features a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn and will be directed by Ian Rickson.
