Diamond Resorts Is Offering a Maui, Hawaii Vacation You'll Never Forget
by Robert Diamond - Feb 27, 2015

Before the age of airplane transportation and luxury cruises, a vacation to the otherwise unattainable Hawaiian Islands was the stuff of dreams accessed by way of picture books, films and wishful conversation. Now the world introduces itself to Hawaii again and again throughout the seasons, and no time is better than the present to visit its second largest island. Maui has been voted "Best Island" by Conde Nast Traveler for the last 19 years, and it consistently succeeds as the ultimate vacation destination.

BWW Recap: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Says a 'Prayer for the Dying'
by Erin Resnick - Jan 29, 2015

What have you guys merged with lately? Your twin? Your brother who is technically 18 years older than you but because of witchy circumstances is actually the same age as you physically? Me personally, I merged with a box of ranch flavored Wheat Thins. It was a stressful job, but not as stressful as the Parker family's life on tonight's episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, entitled 'Prayer for the Dying,' which included a real death, a vampire death, and an almost death.

BWW CD Reviews: THE LAST SHIP (Original Broadway Cast Recording) is Deeply Satiating
by David Clarke - Jan 5, 2015

I was able to catch a performance of THE LAST SHIP during previews. By intermission I knew I was looking forward to a cast recording of the musical, but I was largely uninterested in seeing the second act. I stuck it out and left inspired by the music and the cast's performances but entirely unmoved by the clunky book by John Logan and Brian Yorkey.

CABARET LIFE NYC: My Second Half of 2014 Cabaret Journey or One Reviewer's Long Procrastination Special as We Bid Farewell to Another Year of Show Hopping
by Stephen Hanks - Dec 26, 2014

If you've been a regular reader of this particular reviewer's musings, you know that every year there are long stretches of time where I just haven't been able to critique all the shows I've seen that deserve commentary. So I end up playing what they call in sports, 'Catch-up ball,' and post a mash up of belated reviews from past shows. It's kind of like a critic's version of the song 'Six Months Out of Every Year,' from Damn Yankees. Give or take a month or two, that's usually the time period during which I store unpublished reviews in my fevered brain and then unload them all in one seemingly endless column-like this one is going to be. If my cabaret-show reviewing days will be over (as chronicled here), I might as well go out with a bang-and relieve my procrastination guilt during holiday season. Now I can scratch one New Year's resolution off the list.

BWW Reviews: In Entertaining Individual Shows, Anna Marie Sell and Kim Sutton Explore the Military Life Through Music
by Billie Roe - Dec 17, 2014

The month of December has always been an emotional time of the year, especially for our military families; a period to deeply reflect on family and country. Over the past few months in New York cabaret, a few performers have offered up musical testimony on wars, patriotism, and US military veterans. Recently, two singers fairly new to the cabaret scene--Anna Marie Sell and Kim Sutton--staged shows saluting the brave men and women who serve our country now and in the past.

Pinchgut Opera Presents IPHIGENIE EN TAURIDE, Now thru 12/9
by BWW News Desk - Dec 3, 2014

After a joyful comedic romp of The Chimney Sweep, what can you expect from Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride? Written in 1779, it was premiered by the Paris Opera and was Gluck's penultimate opera, performed more than four hundred times over the next fifty years. He wrote a revised version in 1781 in German, Iphigenie auf Tauris which was staged as a tragic singspiel at the National Theatre in Vienna but proved less popular than the original French version.
