The six-time Tony-winning Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles has graced countless stages around the world with its film adaptation garnering three Oscar nominations. The Hong Kong premiere of La Cage features a live music and enthralling music and dance, invoking the beguiling beauty of drag queens. La Cage aux Folles is adapted by Harvey Fierstein with music and original lyrics by Jerry Herman, translated and directed by Artistic Director Anthony Chan, with Cantonese lyrics translated by Chris Shum. The production is choreographed by Mohamed Drissi with music director Edgar Hung and singing supervisor Beilosi Fung. A 23-strong cast is led by guest artist Pichead Amornsomboon and Ko Hon Man, Jordan Cheung, Lau Shau Ching and Mercy Wong. The production runs from January 19th to 27th at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. Tickets are available now from URBTIX outlets.

The Metropolitan Opera presents Donizetti's comedy La Fille du Régiment, with performances February 7 to March 2, 2019. Pretty Yende stars as Marie, the young canteen girl of the local regiment. Javier Camarena is the boy with whom she falls in love, Tonio, whose show-stopping aria “Ah! mes amis” is famous for its remarkable nine high Cs. The holidays are Rob Mathes' favorite time of year - they are the time that Mathes returns home to the Greenwich, Connecticut, area and performs his annual Holiday Concert. This year's concerts are December 14 and 15 at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, and December 16 at the Schimmel Center in New York City. All three concerts are sold out and will feature Rob Mathes, his all-star band, his choir of 'Saints and Friends' and special guests Sting, Vanessa Williams and David Sanborn who will join Rob for a few holiday-themed songs at the Performing Arts Center. Sting and Vanessa Williams will also join Mathes at the Schimmel Center on Sunday for a few songs.

The 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) has announced that actresses Lisa Lu and Awkwafina will be honored with the Snow Leopard Awards at the festival's closing night ceremony, November 1 at the ArcLight Cinema in Downtown Culver City (9500 Culver Blvd.) AWFF is once again partnering with The Snow Leopard Trust to raise awareness for the endangered snow leopard and its ecosystem in the high mountains of Asia. The Asian World Film Festival, which includes 16 Oscar® and seven Golden Globe® Foreign Language submissions, will run through October 24 – November 1, 2018.

The 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) has announced a Global and Asian Entertainment Forum to be held as part of the Film Festival on October 26, at the historic Culver Hotel. The theme of the 2018 AWFF celebrates women in film, a nod to the growing role of women in the Asian entertainment business and the #metoo movement. This year, a living legend of musical theatre turns 90: Lyricist-bookwriter Tom Jones (who also, under a stage name) appeared in the original company of his most famous and wildly successful record-breaking musical, The Fantasticks. His collaborator, composer Harvey Schmidt, just recently passed away. The production's record-breaking run closed, on January 13, 2002, after 17,162 performances. Their shows also include 110 in the Shade, I Do! I Do!, Philemon, Celebration and many more. And celebration is what it's about when Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, return to celebrate Jones & Schmidt. Demas and Rice have based the show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Tom and Harvey. With very special guest Broadway's Hal Robinson who is also a Fantasticks alumni.
