New York Live Arts today announced the schedule of its third annual Live Ideas festival, S K Y - Force and Wisdom in America Today, taking place April 15 - 19, 2015. HOUSTON, TEXAS - From November 28 - December 28, 2014, Houston Ballet celebrates the holidays with Ben Stevenson's breathtaking production of The Nutcracker, seen by over 1,000,000 people since its premiere 27 years ago. The beloved ballet tells the story of a little girl named Clara who is given a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. She encounters the frightful King Rat before embarking on a wondrous journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. Young and old alike will experience the many special effects, including the Christmas tree which "grows" to 40 feet, 200 pounds of "snow" falling during the snow scene, and the firing of cannon onstage. Houston Ballet will give 35 performances of The Nutcracker, to a live orchestra, in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. he Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the continuation of a summer tradition of showcasing great genre classics to beat the heat. Following the tradition of last summer's popular "Midnight Movies" series, each film in the new "Freaky Friday" series will kick off the weekend at 11pm and have the same weekly blend of mind-melting, gross-out horror as well as some rarely screened classic cult favorites in glorious 35mm, curated by Film Society programmer and Film Comment Editor Gavin Smith.

Pacific Northwest Ballet is happy to announce the return of its popular Family Matinee Series production of Pinocchio. The classic tale of a puppet who yearns to be a real boy will be presented as a narrated one-act ballet for family audiences. Like PNB's Family Matinee productions of Snow White and Hansel & Gretel, Pinocchio is conceived and choreographed by Bruce Wells and will feature over 70 students of Pacific Northwest Ballet School in each specially-created, hour-long matinee performance for children and families. (Pinocchio does not feature PNB Company dancers.) Pinocchio runs March 16 and 22 at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall.
