MISS SAIGON Sets Date to Arrive in US Movie Theatres!

Cameron Mackintosh announced today that his acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON - a recent smash hit in London - will return to New York at its original home, The Broadway Theater (1681 Broadway) beginning performances Wednesday, March 1.

"Miss Saigon," the international musical sensation that ran on Broadway for a decade, opens the new season at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre. PinnWorth Productions proudly presents this blockbuster show for nine performances: Fridays, Sept. 9, 16, and 23 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Sept. 9. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

This summer, NYMF will be on quest to save Paradise one Scrabble tile at a time. The new musical, The Last Word will be presented at the Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 W 42nd St) . The Last Word is written by Brett Sullivan (Billy Elliot Live Film Director) and will be directed by Michael Bello (Doctor Zhivago), choreography by Nick Kenkel (Gotta Dance, Legally Blonde) and Musical Supervisor is Conrad Helfrich (Dirty Dancing).  It will begin performances on July 22 and will run through July 29, 2016. Tickets are $27.50 and can be purchased by visiting NYMF.org.

Today in 1991, Miss Saigon opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 4092 performances. Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr. It is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The musical premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London on 20 September 1989, closing after over four thousand performances, on 30 October 1999.The musical represented Schonberg and Boublil's second major success, following Les Miserables in 1985.

42nd Street Moon concludes its 23rd season with Frank Loesser's glorious Napa Valley romance, the Tony Award-winning THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. This masterpiece with book, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business …, Where's Charley?) is an unconventional and sweepingly romantic love story set in the vineyards of Napa Valley. Cameron Mackintosh announced on November 19 that his acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON - a smash hit in London since its premiere there in May, 2014 - will open on Broadway in the spring of 2017 at a Shubert theater to be announced.  The Broadway return of MISS SAIGON will feature its acclaimed London stars, Filipino-born and L.A. resident Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer and 19 year-old North Carolina native Eva Noblezada as Kim, who was discovered by the MISS SAIGON casting team at the National High School Musical Awards two years ago in New York.   First performance and opening night dates will be announced at a later date.
