?The Mannes Orchestra, the student orchestral ensemble of Mannes College at The New School, and the New York Choral Society will join forces to perform John Adams' On The Transmigration of Souls and Paul Hindemith's When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd, April 8 at Carnegie Hall. David Hayes, who leads both groups, will conduct the performance of these two masterpieces, both of which are inspired by profound historic events and celebrate the strength and resilience of the American spirit. On The Transmigration of Souls will feature the critically acclaimed Young People's Chorus of New York City. When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd will showcase the soloists Abigail Fischer (mezzo-soprano) and Lee Poulis (baritone).

The 80th Birthday tribute features Anthony Roth Costanzo, countertenor, the International Contemporary Ensemble - Christian Knapp, conductor, and the New York premiere of Rands' FOLK SONGS (2014) tonight, November 13, 2014 at 8 pm at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University (2960 Broadway at 116th Street).

In an event emblematic of Kent's multiple roles in the city's choral life, he will conduct a performance of the massive work by the Oratorio Society of New York, of which he is Music Director, and the Symphony and Symphonic Chorus of the Manhattan School of Music, where he is Director of Choral Activities, in the grand space of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, where he is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist -- with a new choral configuration that features the more-than-250 singers on risers in the cathedral's Great Choir space.
