Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.

? In 1916, World War I was well underway and German Zeppelins were bombing Paris.  Charlie Chaplin had just been signed to his first film contract, Mary Pickford became the first female film star to sign a million-dollar contract, and Babe Ruth and the Boston Red Sox beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 13th World Series.

The New School's newly formed College of Performing Arts, led by"firebrand" (New York Times) Executive Dean Richard Kessler, is pleased to announce winter-spring public programming highlights for the College's three schools: Mannes School of Music, The School of Jazz and The School of Drama. Performances will take place at the College's new performing arts hub-designed by Deborah Berke Partners at Arnhold Hall (55 West 13th Street)-as well as at The New School's Tishman Auditorium at University Center (63 Fifth Avenue), The Theater at the School of Drama (151 Bank Street) and venues throughout the city. San Francisco Opera General Director David Gockley and Music Director Nicola Luisotti today announced the Company's 2016–17 Season repertory and roster of international guest artists, conductors and creative teams scheduled to appear at the War Memorial Opera House, as well as initial programming for SF Opera Lab 2017 presentations at the Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera's Taube Atrium Theater. The Company's 94th Season will also mark Matthew Shilvock's inaugural year as San Francisco Opera's new general director, succeeding his mentor and internationally respected impresario, David Gockley, who will step down on July 31, 2016.

Gettysburg Community Theatre, the non-profit 501c3 organization located in the original Elks Lodge building at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg, will present the long-running hit musical CHICAGO.

The Alden in McLean announces its winter-spring 2016 season offerings of national and international touring artists. Carlo Rizzi is ready to enter an exciting period of work in the New Year. The conductor's 2015/16 season continues in January with a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Matthew Ozawa's new production of Verdi's Nabucco. He heads to Milan the following month to begin rehearsals for Teatro alla Scala's eagerly awaited staging of Umberto Giordano's La cena delle beffe, an opera not seen at La Scala for eight decades. Rizzi's rich schedule also includes the world premiere of Iain Bell's In Parenthesis and the double-bill of Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci, staged to celebrate the 70th birthday of Welsh National Opera (WNO).

Cambridge, MA (FOR RELEASE 11.18.15) – As the contemporary music ensemble-in- residence at Cambridge's Le Laboratoire, ECCE presents a one-night only performance of Earle Brown's December 1952, in conjunction with the gallery's current exhibit, BIRDLY by Max Rheiner. Featuring dispersed acoustic performances by ECCE (violinist Karen Kim, bass clarinetist Vasko Dukovski, tubaist Ben Stapp, bassoonist Sarah Schoenbeck) interspersed with recorded polyphony by sound designer Ricardo Romaneiro, this spatial rendering of December 1952 is an aural analog to BIRDLY's virtual reality experience.

David Mirvish is pleased to present Patrick Hamilton's classic mystery thriller GASLIGHT. Performances begin Sunday January 17 and play through Sunday February 28, 2016 at the newly reconfigured 1,384 seat Ed Mirvish Theatre. Media night is Wednesday January 20 at 8pm.

BroadwayWorld has received word that Broadway's recent rock 'n' roll hit A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN will replace the musical in development SLEEPING BEAUTY WAKES as part of The 5th Avenue Theatre's 2015/16 season. The show will share the same run dates (March 25-April 17) with minor changes to the performance schedule.

San Francisco Opera today announced cast changes for the Company's new production of Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, presented October 8–28, 2015, and for Mozart's The Magic Flute, presented October 20–November 20, at the War Memorial Opera House.
