Macbeth - 2013 - West End Tickets, News, Info & More

Trafalgar Theatre (Formally Trafalgar Studio 1)
14 Whitehall, Westminster, London SW1A 2DY, United Kingdom London

James McAvoy will star in Shakespeare's MACBETH at Trafalgar Studio One for a strictly limited season from 09 February until 27 April 2013. The Glasgow-born McAvoy will make good use of his roots in his performance as the fearsome Scottish king, re-imagined in post-apocalyptic separatist Scotland. The film star is best known for his work in Atonement, The Last King of Scotland and the X-Men franchise

MACBETH will be directed by the Olivier Award winner Jamie Lloyd, whose previous credits include Passion (Donmar Warehouse), The Pride (Royal Court) and Cyrano de Bergerac on Broadway.

In what is perhaps Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy, Macbeth’s crusade of pathological ambition and struggle for power explores the corrosive potential of the human mind, and exposes the ugliness of a society brutalized by war and tyranny.
