The Purple Rose Theatre Company will present a free concert reading of a play under consideration for future production at the Chelsea District Library this month. As part of the professional theatre company's ongoing partnership with the award-winning library, the readings will take place at 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the McKune Room of the Chelsea District Library. The library is located at 221 South Main Street, Chelsea, Michigan, 48118. Each reading will be followed by an audience talkback with the director and actors.

Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Red Dog Howls, written by Alexander Dinelaris and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, begins performances tonight at 7pm at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, September 24 at 7pm. Award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit) returns to New York Theatre Workshop in a landmark role, joining Florencia Lozano and Alfredo Narciso in the cast of this New York premiere.

Dallas Theater Center kicks of its 2012-2013 season with the outrageous new comedy The Second City Does Dallas written specifically for Dallas by members of The Second City and directed by Matt Hovde. The worlds of Chicago and Dallas collide on DTC's stage in a satirical take on all that makes Dallas great (and not so great). It's a fully produced sketch comedy experience in a theatrical, no-holds-barred look at Big D.
