Walnut Street Theatre opens its landmark 208th season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Tony Award-winning romantic musical, SOUTH PACIFIC. Directed by Charles Abbott, with choreography by Michelle Gaudette, this production begins previews on September 6th, opens on September 14th and runs through October 23rd on the Walnut's Mainstage.

According to Variety, Broadway chorus girl Sachi Shimizu passed away on November 1 in West Milford, New Jersey. Shimizu lost a battle to cancer- she was 58 years old. She is survived byher husband, Ron Kurowski; her mother; two brothers; and a sister.

Framing their new show, Two Guys and a Grand (last Wednesday night at the Laurie Beechman Theatre), in the kind of friendly antagonism and winking shtick popular during vaudeville, the two very different performers manage to be both broad and classy.
