Public Sales For UMS's 2018-19 Season Begin 8/13

Tickets to individual performances on the University Musical Society's 140th season will go on sale to the public on Monday, August 13, 2018. With appearances by internationally renowned orchestras, chamber musicians, dance groups, jazz and global music artists, and international theater ensembles, the UMS season spans the complete spectrum of the performing arts. Events will take place in Ann Arbor venues, including Hill Auditorium, the Power Center, the Michigan Theater, and Rackham Auditorium. In addition, UMS will present five high-definition theater broadcasts from the National Theatre of London and the Bolshoi Theater of Moscow, all in partnership with the Michigan Theater.

Troupe Announces The World Premiere Of Joy Wilkinson's THE SWEET SCIENCE OF BRUISING At Southwark Playhouse

Troupe today announces the World Premiere of Joy Wilkinson's The Sweet Science of Bruising. Directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward, the production opens at Southwark Playhouse on 5 October, with previews from 3 October, and runs until 27 October.

New York's beloved Dance Theatre of Harlem, under the artistic direction of Virginia Johnson, returns to NY City Center for its annual homecoming season tonight, April 4, the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with the annual Vision Gala, honoring dance legend Carmen de Lavallade and civil rights icon Xernona Clayton.

Bayerisches Staatsorchester & Staatsoper Makes US Debut At Carnegie Hall

German Maestro Kirill Petrenko leads the Bayerisches Staatsorchester and Staatsoper in their United States debut performances at Carnegie Hall over two consecutive evenings this March. Making a rare New York City appearance, Mr. Petrenko steps onto the Carnegie Hall stage for the first time as General Music Director of the Bayeriche Staatsoper and its orchestra. On Wednesday, March 28 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Mr. Petrenko and the Staatsorchester present Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony, and are joined by violinist Julia Fischer and cellist Daniel Müller-Schott for Brahms's Double Concerto in A Minor.

Utah Symphony Announces 2018-19 Season

Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Paul Meecham today announced the Utah Symphony's 2018-19 season, with highlights including the live recording of a Berlioz album for Hyperion Records, semi-staged performances of Bernstein's "Candide" in celebration of the composer's centennial, and a cycle of Bach's six Brandenburg Concertos paired with works by the late composer Pierre Boulez. American composer Andrew Norman will be in Salt Lake City as Composer-in-Association for performances of his works and additional activities.

SplitMoon Theatre has just announced the premiere of a new production of Demons at St Leonard's Church in Shoreditch. Dramatised from Dostoevsky's novel by Peter Sturm, who also directs, the site-responsive show will run from 25 October to 11 November 2017 and coincide with the Centenary of the Russian Revolution.

The House of Life, a poetic and expansive installation by Hadassa Goldvicht, explores themes of historical memory; the threshold between life, death, myth, and art; and the rapidly changing nature of Venice, via a multi-channel video work that will be installed at the Querini Stampalia in conjunction with the Venice Biennale. Presented by the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, in collaboration with Meislin Projects, the exhibition follows Aldo Izzo, the 86-year-old guardian and keeper of the Jewish cemeteries in Venice.

Sotheby's recently announced that David Korins, Tony-nominated set designer for Hamilton the musical and the recently-opened Dear Evan Hansen - among his many other accomplishments - will serve as Creative Director for Sotheby's Americana Week. David will design a multi-floor installation in our New York headquarters, responding to the centuries of American history and craftsmanship on view. The Americana Week exhibitions open to the public today 11 January.
