Santa Barbara, CA — The Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra will open its 37th season with a compelling program of works by Schumann, Mendelssohn, and Stravinsky, including the latter's incandescent Firebird Suite (1919 version), at Santa Barbara's historic Lobero Theatre on October 3. Also featuring Schumann's Symphony No. 4 in D Minor and Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream Overture, the concert will begin at 7:30 pm. Subscription and single-ticket sales are underway.   

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance announces the 2015-2016 season, a striking range of works including a cherished romantic comedy, a decadent musical, bold, new choreography, and the transformative story of a young girl's perseverance while under the darkest shadow of war. 

The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Performances will run September 11 - October 11, 2015 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

On February 23 and 24, 2015, the pilot episode of composer Lisa Bielawa's serial opera Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser will be videotaped at The Yost Theater in Santa Ana (307 North Spurgeon St.). Led by guest conductor Andrew Grams, the program will feature the CSO's principal cello Luis Biava and principal viola Karl Pedersen.
