Just yesterday, Tony Award-winner Billy Porter joined hundreds of hopefuls outside of the Hirschfeld Theatre in their most fabulous red footwear to celebrate the show's 1000th performance. To pay homage to the show's now-iconic red boots, the first 50 people in line at the Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th St) wearing red shoes received a free pair of tickets, plus the three most fabulous pairs of footwear, and winners (as chosen by Porter) got to join the cast backstage after the evening performance. Later that night the cast gathered on stage to celebrate with a toast and custom Kinky Boots cupcakes provided by Baked by Melissa. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the whole day below!

On Thursday, July 9, 2015, BROADWAY SERVES kicked off its summer-long partnership with the Children's Aid Society. Child volunteers from the theater community teamed up with CAS' kindergarten-3rd grade campers to fill and decorate toiletry bags. These toiletries will be donated to formerly homeless residents currently living in an Urban Pathways facility. Kyle Taylor Parker, who has been starring as 'Lola' in the National Tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots, steps into the role on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) for three months, taking over for Tony Award-winner Billy Porter. Parker was originally slated to begin performances tonight, January 27, but due to Winter Storm Juno, the actor will make his debut on Thursday, January 29, instead. Kinky Boots is heading to South Korea! This will be the first international production of the Tony-winning musical. It's been almost a decade since the Pittsburgh-born Billy Porter released a solo album, and since then much has changed for the award-winning artist, who grew up singing in the Pentecostal church. Perhaps best known for his Tony Award-winning role as 'Lola' in the hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots, Porter's musical background is based in gospel, soul and R&B. He released his first solo album, Untitled, on A&M Records, and a second album, At The Corner of Broadway + Soul, on Sh-K-Boom Records. On April 15, 2014, Porter releases his debut on Concord Records, Billy's Back on Broadway. The CD is now available for pre-order on Amazon, and you can get a first look at the artwork below!
