Songwriting team Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II brought melodies and words to life in some of the most iconic movie musicals of the 20th Century, and now Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment plans to bring that magic home with The Rodgers & Hammerstein Blu-ray Collection today, May 6.

Eight remarkable artists and philanthropists will be hooded and handed their degrees in person when The Juilliard School confers honorary doctorates during its 109th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11 AM in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center (Broadway at 65th Street, NYC).

This Amazon-exclusive collection will feature six of the 15-time Academy Award- winning movie musicals by the Oscar- Tony- Pulitzer- Grammy- Emmy-Award-winning team of Rodgers & Hammerstein, including Best Picture winner The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific, State Fair and Carousel.

A Lincoln Center Theater representative has confirmed that the musical will indeed arrive on Broadway next year. Casting has not yet been announced, though Rodgers and Hammerstein veteran Kelli O'Hara, who is currently starring in The Bridges of Madison County, has long been rumored to lead the revival.

Just last night, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II were celebrated in Lyrics & Lyricists' Getting to Know You at the 92nd Street Y. At the special event head of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization Ted Chapin, who was also acting as Guest artistic director and host, shared that one of the duo's most beloved musicals, The King and I, will be brought back to the stage by Lincoln Center Theatre in Spring 2015. An official announcement has not yet been made.

Today in 1951, The King and I opened at the St. James Theatre, where it ran for 1246 performances. The King and I is the fifth musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The work is based on the 1944 novel Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon and derives from the memoirs of Anna Leonowens, who became governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The story deals with the experiences of the British schoolteacher, who is hired as part of the King's drive to modernize his country. The relationship between the King and Anna is marked by conflict through much of the play, as well as by a love that neither is able to express.

The Royal Shakespeare Company will tour Henry IV Parts I and II, Shakespeare's celebrated history plays, to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Norwich, Salford, Bradford, Bath and Canterbury between September - November 2014.
