Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin returns this season to Carnegie Hall to lead The Philadelphia Orchestra in three concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, beginning on Tuesday, November 15 at 8:00 p.m. ViolinistBenjamin Beilman joins the orchestra for Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major, Op. 19, on a program that also includes Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin and Daphnis et Chloe(complete) with the Westminster Symphonic Choir.

Carnegie Hall presents Orchestra of St. Luke's in three concerts this season in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, beginning on Thursday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. The series kicks off with the orchestra's long-time friend and collaborator David Robertson leading a program that includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92; and selections from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn featuring celebrated baritone Thomas Hampson. Also on the program is Brett Dean's Testament, a moving tribute to Beethoven's life and music inspired by his 1802 "Heiligenstadt Testament," the autobiographical manifesto in which the composer came to terms with the loss of his hearing early in his career.

The 59th season will open with the full- length, light hearted Shakespearian frolic, A Midsummer Night's Dream, choreographed by Bruce Wells with music by Felix Mendelssohn. The production will be accompanied by Kansas City Symphony conducted by Kansas City Ballet Music Director Ramona Pansegrau and runs Oct. 7 through 16 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. This production also will feature the women of the Kansas City Chorale as well as 35 students from Kansas City Ballet School.

The demonic plant will take over the U.S. Bank Main Stage with preview performances beginning September 10; an opening night on September 16; and performances running through October 16. Bill Fennelly directs a cast featuring Nick Cearley, Gina Milo, Jamison Stern, Chaz Rose, David Meyers, Ebony Blake, Johari Nandi and Alexis Tidwell.

Smuin kicks off its 23rd season with the Bay Area tour of Dance Series 01 showcasing the diverse styles of this contemporary American ballet company. The program features Madness, Rack, and Honey, a world premiere by acclaimed choreographer Garrett Ammon. Also on the program is the West Coast's first look at Stanton Welch's critically praised Indigo, which examines the vagaries of romantic relationships as four couples come together, fall in love, fight, and exchange partners. Rounding out the bill is the timely return of Michael Smuin's Stabat Mater, a powerful response to the events of 9/11. It is presented by Smuin in observance of the 15th anniversary of this most significant event of the new century, with a message of hope in the face of challenges.

Summer in the city begins on July 4th, Louis Armstrong's traditional birthday, when the Louis Armstrong House Museum kicks off its signature summer concert series Hot Jazz / Cool Garden - now in its 10th year. For three days this summer, hot jazz is served up with red beans 'n' rice in the Armstrongs' Japanese-inspired garden. Birthday cake will be served on July 4th and Hot Jazz / Cool Garden series subscribers will enjoy a soul food luncheon too. It's a wonderful world at the Louis Armstrong House Museum.
