Alley Theatre presents the world premiere of the new musical Wonderland about Alice, a children's book writer in Manhattan who is suffering through a creative block, estranged from her husband and alienated from her daughter. It takes a trip to a strange-yet-familiar Wonderland for her to regain her life's balance and again find the love and everyday magic that reside in us all - if we know how to look. With a book by Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy (The Civil War), lyrics by Jack Murphy, music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlett Pimpernel, The Civil War), and directed by Gregory Boyd, Wonderland begins previews Friday, January 15, opens officially Wednesday, January 20 and runs through Sunday, February 14.

Conceived by Paul Kelly, SWING! is a high-energy song-and-dance revue that celebrates the music of the Swing era of jazz (1930s-1946) and includes well-known tunes by legendary artists, such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, William 'Count' Basie and others. Songs from the original SWING! score include: It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got that Swing), Throw That Girl Around, Hit Me With a Hot Note and Watch Me Bounce, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, In the Mood, Blues in the Night, Cry Me a River and All of Me.

Still feeling the glow of the sheer theatricality and wonder of Chazz Palminteri's A Bronx Tale, it was with a vague, amorphous dread that I took the 150-or-so mile drive from Las Vegas to Tuacahn (www.tuacahn.com) in St. George, UT, to see a production of Annie. Broadway's landmark musical THE LION KING has welcomed new cast members ALPHONSO ROMERO JONES II and Marquis Kofi Rodriguez ('Young Simba,) and SHEREEN PIMENTEL and SHANNON SKYE TAVAREZ ('Young Nala) to the company. Rodriguez and Pimentel made their Broadway debuts last night, September 29. Tavarez will make her Broadway debut tonight, September 30 and Jones will make his Broadway debut on tomorrow, October 1. Produced by Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions, THE LION KING officially opened on November 13, 1997 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The production moved in its entirety, including all 52-cast members and the entire 24-member orchestra, from the New Amsterdam Theatre on June 4, 2006, and began performances nine days later at its current home, the Minskoff Theatre on June 13, 2006. The move followed the completion of custom renovations to accommodate the Tony Award-winning production.
