Muldoon's Picnic - the critically acclaimed omnium-gatherum of music, storytelling, poetry, and more - has become a staple of New York's cultural diet. Led by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, this words-and-music jamboree features an evolving lineup of world-class special guests from across the spectrum of arts and letters. Returning for its eighth season at Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, New York) on September 10, October 8, and November 12, the series will feature playwright Sarah Ruhl, jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, poet Kimiko Hahn, singer-songwriter Chris Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne),Vogue Creative Digital Director Sally Singer and more.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, presents the Off-Broadway premiere of the acclaimed new musical Midnight at The Never Get, with book, music, and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick, co-conceived by Sam Bolen, by arrangement with Visceral Entertainment and Mark Cortale Productions.  Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast will feature Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson.  Performances begin Tuesday, October 2, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Creator and librettist Cerise Jacobs premiered her 'most technologically ambitious production to date' (Boston Globe) at Boston's Emerson Cutler Majestic Theater in September: the video game opera, PermaDeath, co-written by Jacobs and her son, Pirate Epstein, founder of the video game company SqueePlay and a former New England Halo champion. The score was composed by Rome and Berlin Prize-winning composer Dan Visconti, who also composed Opera Philadelphia's recent Andy Warhol-themed ANDY: A Popera. Now Jacobs's first opera, Madame White Snake, which premiered in Boston in 2010 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for music the following year for the score by composer Zhou Long, will be given its Hong Kong premiere in two performances at the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival in March of next year.

At the annual Wheeling Jamboree Christmas show, headliner Tim Atwood was surprised during his performance with a very special invitation. An invitation to become an official member of The Wheeling Jamboree, one of the last remaining country music shows of its kind, second only to The Grand Ole Opry. This honor came as a total surprise to Tim as Dave Heath, president of the organization, interrupted him between songs and made the formal announcement.

Spectra Venue Management at the Casper Events Center announces the postponement of the Old Dominion “Make It Sweet” Tour stop in Casper.
