La Jolla Playhouse announced today five of six productions in its 2010/11 subscription season, including the world premiere of Annie Weisman's Surf Report, running June/July in the Mandell Weiss Forum; William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and featuring an on-stage orchestra playing the music of Mendelssohn, running July/Aug in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre; the world-premiere musical comedy A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak, starring Tony Award-winner Jefferson Mays, running Sept/Oct in the Mandell Weiss Theatre; a new adaptation of Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground, adapted by Robert Woodruff and Bill Camp, directed by Robert Woodruff, running late Sept/Oct in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre; and Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, running Nov/Dec in the Mandell Weiss Theatre. The final production of the 2010/11 season - a musical - will be announced shortly.

On Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m., YSM opens its third annual Yale in New York series with The Classical Legacy of Benny Goodman. The gifted alumni, students, and faculty of YSM present six 20th-century works linked with the legendary clarinetist.

This season, the four-day Festival, which for six decades has become well known for its fearlessness in championing pioneering musical ideas and personalities, pushes the envelope again with programming that reflects the qualities that have made eighth blackbird a growing musical phenomenon-genre-defying variety in wildly collaborative and visually dramatic presentations.

The smash hit Off-Broadway musical,' Dames at Sea opens the Saint Michael's Playhouse summer 2009 season Tuesday, June 16, and runs through June 27, starring Broadway musical talent top to bottom. Tickets for the show are discounted 20% through the run of the show if bought as part of a four-play season subscription. Performances of 'Dames' are Tuesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 20, at 8 p.m. each evening and Saturday, June 20, and Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m., on the stage of the McCarthy Arts Center on the campus of Saint Michael's College.

New Harmony Theatre, the Tri-State?s only professional Equity theatre, opens its 2009 season with Tennessee Williams? Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, ?A Streetcar Named Desire.? The production, directed by Lenny Leibowitz, runs June 12 ? 28, 2009, at New Harmony?s Murphy Auditorium.

The Huntington Theatre Company announces today that Arthur Miller's Tony Award winner ALL MY SONS and Craig Lucas' modern classic PRELUDE TO A KISS will complete its 2009-2010 Season, creating a bold, diverse, and entertaining lineup of American stories. David Esbjornson, Miller's last living director, helms All My Sons; Huntington Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter DuBois will direct Prelude to a Kiss.

Violinist Karen Gomyo will join the New York Philharmonic to perform Vaughan Williams?s The Lark Ascending at the Orchestra?s 18th free, Annual Memorial Day Concert at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street, Monday, May 25, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. David Robertson will conduct. The cast and design team will soon be announced. 'Temperamental' was a code word for 'homosexual' in the early 1950s, part of a created language of secret words that gay men used to communicate. In this underground world, danger was always an underlying presence. But with it, a heady, intoxicating secrecy also hung in the air.

Alfred Hitchcock?s The 39 Steps, based on the beloved Alfred Hitchcock thriller, adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, directed by Maria Aitken, will replace the previously-announced Page-to-Stage production of The Hudsucker Proxy. The 39 Steps will run August 11 ? September 13 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.
