The Irish Repertory Theatre will honor the life and legacy of the great Irish playwright Brian Friel (January 9, 1929 - October 2, 2015) with a memorial celebration to be held on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street, New York City.  Doors will open at 3:30 PM and the celebration will begin at 4:00 PM.   This event is open to the public but attendees must RSVP to friel@irishrep.org and indicate number of attendees.  

The remaining members of the cast have been announced for the new Australian production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, opening at Melbourne's Princess Theatre from December 29th. Followed by a Sydney season at the Capitol Theatre from March 24th 2016.

As the theatre community mourns the loss of Tony-winning playwright Brian Friel, BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in his memory on Tuesday, December 8th, at exactly 6:45pm for one minute. Friel passed away on October 2nd at age 86.

Broadway loves a good ghost story, but not all ghost stories are the scary kind.

As for the show itself, it's quite a delightful crowd-pleaser, filled with colorful first-rate visuals, spectacular dancing, festive songs, and an infectiously enthusiastic cast that tries its best to win over its audience. And, boy, they definitely do!
