One World Theatre, Austin's premiere music venue known presenting diverse music and cultural arts in an up close and personal setting has announced its 2013 Summer Season. Highlights include top singer-songwriters like Dar Williams and Jimmy Webb, contemporary jazz greats like Euge Groove and Earl Klugh, Latin music icons like Sergio Mendes and Arturo Sandoval and local favorites like Walking Woody's Road featuring Jimmy LaFave, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves and Sam Baker. One World Theatre will also present GRAMMY Award winning trumpeter, Chris Botti at Riverbend Centre.

American Humane Association, which has protected more than a million animals in film during the 70+ years of its famed 'No Animals Were Harmed' program with a 99.98 percent safety rate on set, called the injuries and deaths of animals living at the working farm where some of the animal actors from 'The Hobbit' were also being housed needless and unacceptable. The organization renewed its call to the entertainment industry asking for additional jurisdiction and funding to keep animal actors safe not only while they are working on set, but off set as well to address illegitimate suppliers of animals and to ensure proper training, housing and retirement of these important and beloved co-stars of film and television. In January 2012, American Humane Association sent letters to industry leaders seeking ways to work together to improve the welfare of animals off the set as well as on.

In the roughly five years between November of 1935 and December of 1940, the team of Rodgers and Hart opened nine new musicals on Broadway.  These included revolutionary shows like On Your Toes, which changed the use of dance in musical theatre, and the underappreciated Pal Joey, which brought new sophistication to the characters and themes that could be featured in a musical.  There were also popular hits like Babes In Arms, The Boys From Syracuse, Jumbo and Too Many Girls that introduced classic American songbook entries like 'My Funny Valentine,' 'The Lady Is A Tramp,' 'Falling In Love With Love,' 'My Romance' and 'I Didn't Know What Time It Was.'

In 1951, architect Percival Goodman commissioned three avant-garde artists to create works for his Congregation B'nai Israel synagogue in Millburn, New Jersey. Robert Motherwell, Herbert Ferber, and Adolph Gottlieb - each of whom later became a prominent figure in the Abstract Expressionist movement - created, respectively, an expansive lobby mural, a monumental exterior sculpture, and a large-scale Torah curtain. Congregation B'nai Israel drew national attention as the first congregation to introduce contemporary abstract art and was heralded as an outstanding example of modern religious architecture.

Career Transition For Dancers is proud to announce an additional gift for The Sono Osato Scholarship Program for Graduate Studies. On Monday, April 20th at 6:30pm the New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 18th Annual Lucy G. Moses Preservation Awards. Among the recipients is the team behind the exterior restoration of Moynihan Station. The ceremony will take place at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, also one of the exceptional award winners.
