The National Philharmonic ends its 2017-2018 season at The Music Center at Strathmore with a musical celebration, '100th Anniversary of Poland's Independence,' today, June 2 at 8 p.m. at the Concert Hall at the Music Center at Strathmore. Conducted by world-renowned Polish Maestro Miros?aw Jacek Baszczyk, the concert will feature music composed by Poland's greatest musicians, performed by some of today's leading vocalists and musicians. The performance will commence with an introduction by the Ambassador of Poland, Piotr Wilczek. The 100th anniversary of Poland has significant meaning for the National Philharmonic, which is led by Polish-born Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski. One of the National Philharmonic's veteran artists, Brian Ganz-who will perform at the Polish celebration concert-is also a frequent performer of Frederic Chopin, beginning a quest in 2011 to perform all of the great Polish composer's works. During this celebratory concert, Maestro B?aszczyk will lead the National Philharmonic Chorale, accompanied by Esther Heideman, soprano; Magdalena Wor, mezzo-soprano; Tyler Duncan, baritone; and the National Philharmonic in Krzesimir D?bski's Hussars' Polonaise and Karol Szymanowski's Stabat Mater and Mr. Ganz in Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21.  Ticket prices are $23-$76 and are free for young people age 7-17. Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) presents the spring concert of its world-renowned Symphony Orchestra at Chicago's Orchestra Hall (220 S. Michigan Ave.) on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Made up of some of the most talented and dedicated young musicians from across the Chicago region, the 125-member ensemble is led by Music Director Allen Tinkham. The concert will feature an all-American program of disparate cross-genre voices that explore the many 'Americas' that make up our country.

To a rousing ovation, the cast of the Tony Award®-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen performed a curtain call tribute in honor of the patriotic song "God Bless America," which this year is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, on the eve of Mr. Berlin's 130th birthday. Dear Evan Hansen is playing on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre which was built by Mr. Berlin and his business partner Sam H. Harris and opened in 1921 to house his famed Music Box Revues.  The Shubert Organization currently owns and operates the Music Box.

Edward Gardner will make his New York Philharmonic debut conducting Debussy's Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, featuring The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leif Ove Andsnes in his final appearances with the Orchestra in that role. The program will also include Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra and Sibelius's Pohjola's Daughter. The performances will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 p.m.; they will perform the same program at Long Island University's Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m.

Today the Edinburgh International Festival unveils its 2018 programme. The International Festival runs Friday 3 to Monday 27 August.  Presented by the Foundation of Estonian Arts and Letters, Esto-Atlantis Choral Concert will celebrate the Republic of Estonia's centennial. 100+ singers from around the world will gather to perform and honor the rich heritage of Estonian choral music on Lincoln Center's world-renowned stage. The program manifests four generations of one musical Estonian family: Rudolf Tobias (1973-1918), his daughter, Helen Tobias-Duesberg (1919-2010), granddaughter Maaja Duesberg Roos (b.1945), and great-granddaughter Leila Roos (b.1986). The former two will be present in the spirit of their compositions, the latter two conducting their music, with Maaja additionally performing at the piano and Leila singing in the choir. This Easter Sunday performance includes sacred choral selections by Tobias, and the American premiere of Reekviem by Tobias-Duesberg, as well as the ethereal Morning Star by her contemporary Arvo Part, who is the most performed living composer in the world.
