Rivendell Theatre Ensemble Opens 17th Season with Remount of WRENS, Now thru 10/13

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble's Artistic Director Tara Mallen announces the first production in its 2012-2013 Season dedicated to the theme "reinvention" is WRENS, by Anne McGravie and directed by Rivendell Theatre Ensemble's co-founder Karen Kessler, tonight, September 6 - October 13, at Rivendell's new performance venue, 5779 N. Ridge. Previews are $15 and run Thursday, Sept. 6 - Saturday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. There is a Gala Performance Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. and opening/press night is Monday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. The regular performance tickets are $30 with the schedule Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. is a benefit performance of WRENS with the original 1996 award-winning cast reprising their roles. Barrie's What Every Woman Knows at the Finborough Theatre in July this year, director Louise Hill returns to the Finborough Theatre with another rediscovery of a classic comedy by J.M. Barrie to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth - his magical 1901 play Quality Street, opening on 30 November 2010 (Press Night: Thursday, 2 December 2010 at 7.30pm) as part of the Finborough Theatre's 30th anniversary year.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-wining Mint Theater Company today announced the cast for their third play of the 2009-2010 season, a rare revival of Dr. Knock, Or The Triumph Of Medicine, Jules Romains' prescient 1923 satire. Gus Kaikkonen, who helmed Mint's acclaimed production The Madras House (2007), will direct, using his own translation and featuring a cast that includes Scott Barrow (33 Variations, Embraceable Me), Thomas M. Hammond (The Madras House, Hamlet (TFANA), The Receptionist], Jennifer Harmon (Dividing the Estate, Barefoot in the Park, Seascape), Patrick Husted (Dr. Bob in Bill W. and Dr. Bob, Wit), Patti Perkins (The Full Monty), and Chris Mixon (eight seasons with Alabama Shakespeare and four seasons for Utah Shakespearean Festival).
