It's not often you get to share a rare moment in time with a music legend, listening in on a conversation as if it were taking place in her living room with a good friend as she shares memories of her incredible career in the music industry. Such was the case on Tuesday evening, September 29 at the Valley Performing Arts Center at Cal State Northridge where music legend Linda Ronstadt sat down with longtime friend and award-winning producer Dan Guerrero to share excerpts from her 2013 book Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir as well as photos and stories from her childhood in Tucson, AZ, through her life as one of the most influential vocalists of the modern era.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Liza Minnelli's upcoming appearances at the London Palladium and Sheffield City Hall have been cancelled. According to a statement from the star's rep, it's 'because of the promotor's failure to pay. Due to current economics and unusually high ticket prices, the producer was unable to secure the promised funds. For months Liza has been preparing for these shows and she was devastated to hear of this unfortunate news. She has always thought of London a second home and will miss seeing her friends and devoted fans.'

Orange County, Calif.—June 15, 2015—Pacific Symphony launches Summer Festival 2015 with a rollicking, high-energy Fourth of July celebration featuring the ever-popular tunes of Journey, brought to life by the tribute band, Faithfully. With a reputation for being a highly authentic Journey tribute band, Faithfully preserves the hits of one of the most beloved bands in America through performances of songs such as “Don't Stop Believin,'” “Faithfully,” “Any Way you Want It,” “Open Arms” and “Wheel in the Sky.” Remaining one of the most popular rock bands in America to this day, Journey's wide variety of musical genres including rock, jazz fusion, progressive rock, hard rock and pop rock have won them 25 gold and platinum albums and 19 top 40 singles. The Symphony's Independence Day concert (always the most popular of the season!) begins early with picnicking on the grounds and culminates in a brilliant fireworks display set to music performed by the orchestra. The festivities also pay homage to America's war heroes and veterans through a salute to the U.S. armed forces.

One of the joys of reviewing cabaret is being fortunate enough to discover a remarkable talent. I experienced that feeling this past Saturday night at Don't Tell Mama where Christy Frye debuted her New York cabaret show, Christy Frye: Feels Like the First Time – Things I Learned From the Car Radio. Considering Frye is native of the Washington, D.C. area, and has been commuting weekly to New York for more than two years to study and participate in the New York cabaret scene, one might get the impression that Frye spends a good deal of her time in the car listening to the “oldies but goodies,” thereby supporting the first rule of cabaret performance--make the subject matter organic to the performer.

With the sun out more and more (amidst all the rain, of course) the theatrical choices in the area tend to dwindle a bit. But not to worry, there's still plenty to take in. From Shakespeare to Schwartz, greasers to gay baseball players, classics to camp and Karen Carpenter there's something for everyone. After you spend your day in the sun check out what's happening indoors (or in some cases combine the sun and the shows).

Four recent shows at Don't Tell Mama featured performers either making their debuts on the New York cabaret scene (Evelyn Sullivan and Erin McCracken) or who returned this spring in hopeful anticipation of sharing their artistic vision with audiences (Rob Sutton and Eve Eaton). They no doubt experienced the usual anxiety, trials and tribulations before ultimately taking the stage. And they've come out on the other side relatively unscathed.
