Friends In Deed will present a legendary trio as Charles Busch, Whoopi Goldberg and Lypsinka star in the first-ever New York presentation of the infamous Broadway-play-that-wasn't, LEGENDS!. Written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner James Kirkwood (A Chorus Line), the play will be presented in a special One Night Only staged reading benefit on Monday evening, March 23 at 8PM at Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street).

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch will lead the New York Philharmonic in New York Moments, a concert featuring iconic musical moments from Broadway and film, with stars from the stage and screen (in alphabetical order): Ashley Brown, who originated the title role in Mary Poppins on Broadway; Maria Friedman, who played Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and Marian in The Woman in White in London; Joel Grey, whose numerous starring roles have included the famous M.C. in Cabaret, on Broadway and in the film; Jennifer Holliday, one of the original Dreamgirls; Liza Minnelli, last seen on Broadway in Liza's at The Palace; Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, stars of the current Lincoln Center Theater production of South Pacific; and 15-year-old up-and-coming singer, Nikki Yanofsky. The concert will take place Monday, April 20, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. All except Mr. Hamlisch and Ms. O'Hara are making their New York Philharmonic debuts.

Kevin Bacon portrays retired military officer (and Nixon's chief of staff after the president left office) Lt. Col. Jack Brennan. As Nixon's negotiator in setting up the terms and ground rules for the interviews, Brennan was a bulldog.

Angelo Parra's The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith will be performed at the New Brunswick Playhouse, running March 3?29. Miche Braden, who portrayed Bessie Smith in the previous productions of the play, will recreate the title role once more.

Prospect Theater Company's 10th anniversary concert will be held Sept. 21 at Off-Broadway's 37 Arts. The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester launches its first full season on Saturday, September 20th, with a bona fide Broadway Baby, Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley in concert with her quartet. Headed by long-time collaborator, renowned jazz pianist Kenny Werner, they will be joined by Tony Marino on bass, Billy Drewes on reeds, and drummer Anthony Pinciotti in a program featuring selections from Ms. Buckley's two recent CD releases, as well as songs she is known for from the Great White Way. The Hanover's 2008-2009 calendar will feature touring productions of Movin' Out, Cats, Annie, and Chicago, as well as an eclectic mix of music, comedy, dance, and special attractions for the whole family.
