BroadwayWorld has confirmed additional casting for the upcoming Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof: JENNY ROSE BAKER (Annie Get Your Gun) will play Shprintze, MICHAEL BERNARDI will play Mordcha, JENNIFER ZETLAN will play Shaindel, and MATT MOISEY and TESS PRIMACK will also join the cast.

Molly Smith directs her 30th production as Artistic Director of Arena Stage with a gritty and relevant take on the Tony Award-winning musical Oliver!, blending the chaotic worlds of 19th-century Victorian London with 2015 London. Smith's new in-the-round staging infuses a modern edge to the classic musical about an innocent orphan thrown into the dark world of double-dealing thieves and conmen, highlighting the disparity between classes and dangerous life on London's streets today. Featuring a remarkable score including 'You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two,' 'Consider Yourself,' 'Where is Love?' and 'Food, Glorious Food,' Oliver! runs October 30, 2015-January 3, 2016 in the Fichandler Stage at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.

Just in time for the opening of the new Broadway production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (directed by Bartlett Sher, opening Dec. 17th, 2015) St. Martin's Press has published TRADITION! In addition, JESSICA VOSK (The Bridges of Madison County) will play Fruma Sarah, AARON YOUNG will play Sasha, and JULIE BENKO (Les Misérables), JESSE KOVARSKY (The Death of Klinghoffer), and SILVIA VRSKOVA will also join the cast.

Featuring music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, the story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. It spawned four Broadway revivals, a successful 1971 film adaptation, and the show has enjoyed enduring international popularity.

The Old Globe's presentation of Kiss Me, Kate, the classic musical comedy featuring a book by Sam and Bella Spewack and an iconic score by Cole Porter, begins tonight, July 1, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals just announced that Tony nominee JESSICA HECHT (A View From the Bridge, “Breaking Bad,” The Last Night of Ballyhoo) and ADAM KANTOR (The Last Five Years, Next to Normal, Rent) will join the cast of Fiddler on the Roof. Hecht will play the role of Golde and Kantor will play the role of Motel. Further casting will be announced soon.

Burstein will appear under the direction of Tony Award-nominated director Bartlett Sher, who was most recently nominated for a Tony Award for the current Broadway revival, The King and I.  Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals ofGolden Boy and South Pacific. Further casting and ticket on-sale date will be announced soon.

Jerry Bock wrote the music, Sheldon Harnick the lyrics, and Joseph Stein the book for Fiddler on the Roof, a musical based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and others stories written by Sholem Aleichem.

Spinning Tree Theatre closes its fourth season with the timeless musical classic Fiddler on the Roof. The 2014-2015 season of Spinning Tree featured several firsts for the theatrical production company. The addition of Fiddler on the Roof as the first year of four shows, the first time a Spinning Tree production was directed by someone outside the organization (Walter Coppage directing Black Pearl Sings!), and the first time the company produced a local playwright (Frank Higgins Black Pearl Sings!).

Chaim Topol, best known for his theatrical portrayal of Tevye the milkman in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, is the recipient of Israel's highest honor, The Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement.

The Russian village of Anatevka comes to life once more as Novato Theater Company stages Fiddler on the Roof this spring! One of the most popular musicals in history, the Jerry Bock-Joseph Stein-Sheldon Harnick masterpiece plays tonight, March 26-April 26 at the NTC Playhouse, 5420 Nave Drive in Novato. It is directed by award-winning Pat Nims (2013 BroadwayWorld SF Best Director), and choreographed by Kate Kenyon.
