Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play will be the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.  

Three members of one real-life family - father, son and wife - bring Hamlet's incestuous confusion of family life sharply into focus in a brand new production at Park Theatre. Starring Gyles Brandreth, Benet Brandreth and Kosha Engler, this take on Shakespeare's epic drama fixes the spotlight on the myriad ways families make and un-make themselves. The production runs 22 August - 16 September, with an official press night on Wednesday 30 August.

I guess I've never been one to shy away from risky material. I think art is the most useful and impactful way to tackle some of these topics, and I think this script does it with honesty and beauty. The women in this show are put into an incredibly ugly situation, but they also exude a level of strength that I think many can connect to and find inspiration in. In their own ways, both of our primary female characters take ownership of the way they have been treated by the men around them and in turn they take control of their storylines.

The full cast begin rehearsals today for the world premiere of The Whip Hand, a new play from celebrated Scottish playwright Douglas Maxwell - a Traverse Theatre Company and Birmingham Repertory Theatre co-production in association with National Theatre of Scotland, directed by Birmingham Repertory Associate Director Tessa Walker. Maxwell returns to the Traverse for the first time since his Festival 2013 production, A Respectable Widow Takes to Vulgarity, which went on to enjoy a successful run in New York.

The Wilbury Theatre Group proudly announces the 4th annual Providence Fringe Festival, FRINGEPVD - to be held July 24-29, 2017. The premiere Fringe Theatre Festival in New England, FRINGEPVD has grown rapidly since its inaugural year in 2014. Nancy (aka Barry Marder), will debut in June at the Geffen Playhouse as part of the theater's Spotlight Entertainment Series. The show is produced by Jerry Seinfeld, and written by Nancy, who will star alongside Beth Kennedy and Sam Kwasman. Pierre Balloon will direct.
