Newark Black Film Festival Announces 43rd Season Screenings at Newark Museum

The Newark Black Film Festival (NBFF), the longest running festival of its kind in the United States, kicks off its 43rd season on June 28 at the Newark Museum with 13th, Ava DuVernay's exploration of the history of race, justice and mass incarceration in the U.S., focusing on the nation's prisons that are disproportionately filled with African-Americans.

Benefit Performance of KISS to Raise Funds for Refugees

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble has scheduled an additional performance of the company's currently running production, Kiss, to raise funds for refugees, immigrants and displaced American families. All proceeds from the performance on Wednesday, June 14 at 8 p.m. will go to Santa Ana-based TIYYA Foundation.

On May 20, 2017, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) will present "Little Boy Lost: One Child's Story of Life Behind Bars," a collaborative work that amplifies the voices of incarcerated youth through the story of 20-year-old Miami native Damien Duncan. The performance is part of YoungArts' celebrated Outside the Box series, which engages the community with free, multidisciplinary performances that take place outside of the iconic Jewel Box on the YoungArts Plaza.
