Kennedy Davenport's aside, just several minutes into her August 23 performance of THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO KENNEDY DAVENPORT at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, couldn't have been truer. And, to put it in RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE speak, that informality represented both the top and the bottom of the performance--- though, rest assured, nobody was in danger of elimination. (more...)

Through more than 160 photographs, sculptures, soundworks, and video made since the early 1990s, Waters' renegade humor subverts mainstream expectations of representation and reveals the ways that mass media and celebrity embody cultural attitudes, moral codes, and shared tragedy. Waters freely manipulates images of less-than sacred, low-brow references-Elizabeth Taylor's hairstyles, Justin Bieber's preening poses, his own self-portraits, and pictures of individuals brought into the limelight through his films-to entice viewers to connect to his astute and provocative observations about society. Guest Blog: Annie Siddons On DENNIS OF PENGE
by Guest Blog: Annie Siddons - Oct 4, 2018

The story of the Bacchae by Euripides has always been incredibly fascinating - how economically and devastatingly it tells the truth - and right now, it feels like we need this tale of opposing societal/psychic forces more than ever. Dennis of Penge borrows heavily and unapologetically from Euripides in the structure and form of Dennis. In the original, Pentheus is a person, but instead Pentheus is made into a system, and there is also a character called Neil Pratt, who is the antagonist. (more...)
