Well, with the first weekend after Labor Day behind us, most churches have kicked off their fall program years. And speaking of kick-off - the first full weekend of NFL games is in the books ... how did YOUR favorite team do? American Theater Company (ATC) kicks off its 25th season with the Chicago Premiere of Yeast Nation (the triumph of life) with music & lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book & lyrics by Greg Kotis. The production is directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli, with Musical Direction by Mark Elliott, and will run September 10 - October 18, 2009 at American Theater Company, 1909 W. Byron St, Chicago. An official opening is set for Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 7 PM.

After a 48 year absence, Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents the first new Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie as the inaugural production of the new Henry Miller's Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) beginning Thursday, September 10th, 2009 with an official opening on Thursday, October 15th, 2009. This will be a limited engagement through January 10th, 2010.

But despite Mrs. Krebs' attempts to protect her family with scrubbers, masks, and isolation, the delicate balance is brought to the breaking point when her husband's academic career brings a stranger into their safe house. As we flip the page on our calendars from August to September, a number of areas around the country are beginning to experience a change of seasons from summer to fall - kids are back in school, the temperatures are a bit cooler, and a few leaves are starting to show some autumn colors. But here on the California Central Coast - temperatures are still warm, and several theatres' Fall Seasons are just heating up!

'Monty Python's Spamalot,' the popular musical lovingly ripped-off from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' openedCenter Theatre Group's 2009-2010 at the Ahmanson Theatre of the Los Angeles Music Center on July 7th. 'Monty Python's Spamalot' plays through September 6, 2009. The Ahmanson production marks the first time the international hit comedy has been presented in Los Angeles. John O'Hurley stars as King Arthur.

Let's see - the stores are all having their BACK TO SCHOOL sales and many schools have already started back in session ... the college students are starting to filter back into the area from their summer vacations ... and a number of theatres are bringing their summer show schedules to a close and launching the first productions of their fall schedules. YUP - must be the end of August all right!
