On Her Shoulders will present a FREE staged reading of SEX by Mae West, directed by Aneesha Kudtarkar on Wednesday, June 18th; doors open at 6:30pm.The Play in Context, which situates the script in its historical time and place, kicks off the evening at 6:45pm with an Introduction by dramaturg Celia Braxton. Bette Midler to Play Mae West in HBO Films Biopic; Harvey Fierstein to Pen Script!

Bette Midler will be portraying another Hollywood icon after her turn as Sue Mengers in I'LL EAT YOU LAST on Broadway and in LA. According to Deadline, Midler will star in HBO Films' upcoming Mae West biopic, directed by William Friedkin (The Exorcist) from a script by Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots).

Written in 1928 by Mae West, the stage play "Diamond Lil" has been called many things including 'critically acclaimed,' 'more sinful than Sodom,' and 'a drama of the underworld.' The seedy underbelly of the old Sixth Ward is well represented here with a cast of actors portraying prostitutes, procurers, sex traffickers, jewel thieves, gigolos, hornswogglers, and con men.

Written in 1928 by Mae West, the stage play "Diamond Lil" has laced itself into a position of public awareness once again. Three events in August, that led to whoopee, winks, and ink in The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Brooklyn Courier, etc., lifted the petticoats of petulance from the attitudes of no less than 300 Manhattanites who have missed Mae West.

BroadwayWorld.com has learned details about a recent reading of the Guthrie Theatre's upcoming production of ROMAN HOLIDAY in Minneapolis. Starring in the reading, directed by John Miller-Stephany were Laura Osnes as Princess Ann and John Behlmann as Joe Bradley. They rest of the reading cast featured many of the area's top local talent. We're told that the reading went quite well, and that the song choices, which of course include some of Porter's biggest hits like 'Easy to Love,' 'Begin the Beguine,' 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye' and 'Riding High' also included many rarely heard gems that 'fit perfectly into the story.' Also in attendance for the staged reading were book writer Paul Blake and other members of the creative team.
