The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced six-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony Award-winner Tyne Daly will star in the 1969 musical Dear World, when she joins the company in celebrating Broadway composers, Jerry Herman and Kurt Weill, with the Winter 2017 Musicals in Mufti Series, January 28 - March 5, 2017.

Broadway at 7:30 p.m.  In tribute to the original New Faces series that ran on Broadway and on film from 1934 - 1968, Porchlight Music Theatre last year created this Chicago musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway, as a showcase for the best emerging musical talent now performing on Chicago stages. 

Lee Fields & The Expressions rececently released Special Night via Big Crown Records and this weekend, the band made its national television debut on CBS This Morning Saturday, performing 'Make The World' and the album's title track.

Broadway's Betty Buckley stars in M. Night Shyamalan's new drama SPLIT. The film also stars Haley Lu Richardson, James McAvoy and Jessica Sula.

Poet, novelist and songwriter Leonard Cohen passed away at the age of 82 according to an announcement Thursday night on his Facebook page. He was 82.

Next summer, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival celebrates its 60th season with performances of the plays that started it all.

Great works of literature are often beautifully adapted into opera and ballet. Think of Federico Garcia Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba, to name just one. Jean Giraudoux's The Madwoman of Chaillot is also tremendously passionate and digs deep into the female psyche, producing emotional rhythms that lend themselves to music. Whereas Lorca's work concentrates on sexual repression, Giraudoux's is more romantic and... goes a step further into the realm of championing a cause, a desire to right human wrongs and change the world.

Acclaimed American actress Hope Davis has starred in numerous independent films and TV dramas, from About Schmidt and American Splendour to In Treatment, The Special Relationship and Wayward Pines. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the original Broadway production of God of Carnage, and next month she returns to the stage in David Hare's new play The Red Barn at the National Theatre, directed by Robert Icke.

Aurora Theatre Company proudly opens its 25th anniversary season with a revival of the play that started it all, DEAR MASTER. Joy Carlin (The How and The Why, Talley's Folly, Jack Goes Boating) helms this elegant portraitfeaturing Bay Area favorite Michael Ray Wisely (The Letters, The Arsonists) and Aurora's first leading lady Kimberly King (Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance), wife of Aurora co-founder Ken Grantham, who played Flaubert in the original production. DEAR MASTER plays September 2 through October 2 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. From June 9 - 19, 2016, Houston Ballet will conclude its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of artistic director Stanton Welch's Giselle. The world premiere of Giselle is made possible through the generosity of longtime Houston Ballet supporter and trustee Lynn Wyatt. This production will showcase the company's strength and depth of talent, while staying true to the original story of love, betrayal, and redemption, set in the Romantic era. The ballet is set to the famous score by Adolphe Adam and designed by renowned Italian designer Roberta Guidi di Bagno, who will create the scenery and costumes for the production.

Hampstead Theatre presents the world premiere of Howard Brenton's Lawrence after Arabia, commissioned to mark the centenary of the start of the Arab revolt, which previews from 28 April. Directed by John Dove, the full cast features Sam Alexander, William Chubb, Geraldine James, Khalid Laith, Jack Laskey, Rosalind March and Jeff Rawle.

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the 2016 Musical America Ensemble of the Year, ends its 20th anniversary season with the Boston premiere of David Del Tredici's complete Child Alice (1981) featuring the acclaimed soprano Courtenay Budd. Based on poems prefacing Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, this 135-minute evening-length work changed the course of 20th century music.

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present Irish actress Lisa Dwan in her internationally acclaimed Beckett Trilogy:  Not /Footfalls/ Rockaby, running for six performances from April 13 - 17, 2016, at NYU Skirball Center.  Beckett Trilogy will open on April 13, the 110th Anniversary of Samuel Beckett's birth, and the opening night performances will feature a post-show celebration and conversation honoring Beckett's legacy.
