The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 16 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals.

Today Michael Gennaro, Goodspeed's Executive Director, announced the six sensational shows set for next season. Gennaro explained, '2017 is going to be an exciting year at Goodspeed.  We're producing a classic musical comedy, bold new musicals, a completely reinvented musical from some of the finest creative minds in musical theatre and holiday show for all ages.  Goodspeed's rich history is filled with spectacular seasons, and this is one that will stand out.  Our audiences expect only the best from Goodspeed, and we plan to give them exactly what they want: interesting, entertaining and inspiring stories along with plenty of song and dance.'

Two-time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals has assembled six exciting teams - three led by prominent women directors - to helm the diverse productions planned this season: a tap-happy musical comedy, a beloved classic, a completely reinvented musical from some of the finest creative minds in musical theatre, two bold new musicals, and a holiday show for all ages.

The Kleban Foundation is pleased to announce that the 27th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Daniel Zaitchik and the 27th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Lisa Kron. The 2017 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 6, 2017, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.  

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 32 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2017 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 18 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, a two-time Tony Award winner and latest recipient of the National Medal of Arts, is now accepting projects for development during the 2017 National Music Theater Conference. Applicants may submit music theater works for consideration through Friday, November 18th, 2016.
