The 1955 film version directed by Charles Laughton (his only time behind the camera) and starring Robert Mitchum and Shelley Winters has gone on to be named one of the 100 greatest films of the 20th Century. Now Stephen Cole (book & lyrics) and Claibe Richardson (music) have adapted Grubb's novel into a musical thriller. Lyric Stage is proud to present this great new American musical, winner of the prestigious Edward Kleban Award, with a full orchestra. Davis Gaines will star as The Preacher (Mitchum) opposite Theatre World Award winner Julie Johnson as Willa Harper (Winters). As previously announced, Jim Carrey is attached to play Applegate, while Jake Gyllenhaal is expected to play Joe Hardy. The film will be produced by New Line Cinema and producing team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced the Academy Award winning film, Chicago.

Broadway In Chicago is excited to announce Tony Award winners Roger Bart and Shuler Hensley will reprise the roles of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein and The Monster in the first national tour of The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein. The Chicago engagement will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre for a limited six week engagement November 3 - December 13, 2009.

The culmination of Phantom Fans Week on Saturday will be a keynote address from Tony Award-winning director of PHANTOM, Hal Prince. Prince will talk about his life in theatre, his work with Andrew Lloyd Webber and his reasons for revisiting his classic PHANTOM 20 years later and adapting it for Las Vegas.

Having directed and produced over 50 Broadway productions, Hal Prince has left an indelible mark in the New York theatre history books. He set foot on the scene directing his first musical in 1955, the Tony Award-winning The Pajama Game. In the coming decades, Prince would collaborate with some of Broadway's legends, including Stephen Sondheim, John Kander and Fred Ebb and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
