The Cleve Carney Art Gallery hosts a unique exhibit of Vivian Maier's work entitled "Vivian Maier: Exposed" at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL, June 17 - Aug. 16. The opening preview reception will be Tuesday, June 17 from 6 - 8 p.m. and will include a meet and greet with members of "Team Vivian," a College of DuPage (COD) team including vintage film processor, Frank Jackowiak, and several film and photography students, who processed her film. The reception and exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery will also host special related events including "An Afternoon with Vivian Maier" film screening/panel discussion/book signing event on Sunday, July 27 from 1 until 4 p.m. Tickets are required for this event. CDI/Concert Dance Inc. (CDI) returns as part of the Ruth Page Festival of Dance and marks the opening event of the 2014 Ravinia Season Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6 st 7:30 p.m. in Ravinia's Bennett Gordon Hall Ravinia is located at 418 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park and gates to the event open at 6:30 p.m. Regularly commissioned by Ravinia to present new works, the CDI performance includes the world premiere of "Four Last Songs" choreographed by Artistic Director Venetia Stifler and uses dancers and live vocals, piano and violin accompaniment in a new compositional reduction inspired by songs written shortly before Richard Strauss' death, Reserved seating tickets are available for $10 and may be purchased at www.ravinia.org or via phone by calling 847.266.5100. 'LeDoux Vie' (published by Trafford Publishing) describes the life story of Jack LeDoux. Born in 1924 and reared in California, this story recounts the adventures of growing up in the 20s and 30s when there were no TV or youth sports' programs. Youngsters in those days played sandlot ball, cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, kick the can, and various other activities. There was little parental interaction but most of the time; the kids did behave although the story does recount some mischievous behavior, especially on Halloween.

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret producers Jenn A. Kincaid and Chris O. Biddle have announced the opening of a new retro-themed adult entertainment venue at 4707 N. Broadway. This 7,000 square foot speakeasy-style space will be called the 'Uptown Underground.' Located below street level, the Uptown Underground will host a 150 seat main stage and a 50 to 60 seat cabaret stage and is slated to open in Fall 2014.

The Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO) is proud to pay tribute to composer Hans Werner Henze, who died in 2012 at the age of 86, with performances of his El Cimarron (The Runaway Slave), featuring baritone Eric McKeever in the title role. Not performed in New York since 1986, El Cimarron has music direction by Sara Jobin, and stage direction by Eugenia Arsenis, singled out as stage director by Miguel Barnet, author of the book upon which the opera is based. Performances are January 16 & 17, 7:30 PM, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Theater, Broadway & 95th Street, NYC (entrance on 95th Street, West of Broadway)

This February, Principal Conductor Yuri Temirkanov leads the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in two performances in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. On Thursday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m., Mr. Temirkanov leads the orchestra, Russia's oldest symphonic ensemble, in a unique concert featuring Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23, with lauded Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin as soloist. In addition, the program includes excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov's nationalistic 1907 opera, The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, and Giya Kancheli's 2000 work …al Niente. On Saturday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m., the orchestra and Mr. Temirkanov return, performing Prokofiev's folk music-inspired Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 63, featuring acclaimed violinist Julia Fischer. On the second half of the concert, the orchestra plays Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 27.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in a program of Mozart's three final symphonies - Nos. 39, 40, and 41, Jupiter - tonight, November 29, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m. Classical 105.9 FM WQXR in New York will broadcast the November 30 concert live at 8:00 p.m. as part of a month-long festival on the music and life of Mozart.
